As I do not have the technical knowledge or equipment to do so. It does power on, and the sound system works. When first powered on, the scope showed a bright line that extend about 1/3 of the way across the screen. After I cleaned some of the storage grime from it, and in doing so changed some of the settings, the scope did not light up, but a bouncing dot of light appeared momentarily when I powered it down. Up for bids is the Heathkit IG-37 FM Stereo Generator. The Stereo Generator is in very good condition. The front panel is very clean. All the knobs are clean originals. I removed the knobs. Cleaned the front and the knobs and replaced them carefully. The top has a small mark from adhesive. I also cleaned the top, but the mark is still visible. There are a few scratches on the top, overall, it looks good and the unit is very clean. The electronics within are also very clean. All tubes are tested and some were replaced as required. All controls work properly and the contacts and controls were cleaned. The Stereo Generator powers up and I do read the correct secondary voltages at the filter capacitor pins below the chassis. The Stereo Generator is offered with its original RF type probe with two clips. MOTOROLA MEASUREMENTS FM RF IF SIGNAL GENERATOR MODEL S-1318A TESTED WORKING VGC
Motorola Model S-1318A FM signal generator- S/N: 887. Made by Measurements. Boonton, NJ- Circa early 1970's. This is a later solid state version of one of the classic pieces of test equipment found on the bench and in the service vans of many two way radio shops of the 50's- 70's- before service monitors became the norm. That's where this particular piece came from- I've had it for 6 years or so and it's worked well for me. Six frequency ranges: 25-32. 32-41, 41-54, 130-175, 400-470, and 890-960(2nd harmonics) Mhz. this is the model that also has an IF band generator built in- BNC jack for output. Those ranges are: 2.4-3.9, 3.9-6.0, 6.8-9.4, and 69-76MHz, plus there are a couple crystal jacks on the front panel for 250 Khz- 1 Mhz. I never had occasion to use the 890-960 band or the IF generator- they both show output ... moreto my frequency counter(the 890-960Mhz RF band reads@ 1/2 the dial frequency) This piece also has the 6dB attenuator pad on the output(you read output level on the right side line on the clear plastic overlay of the output dial) the output of the pad is an"SO-239" UHF female connector that mates with a"PL-259" UHF male. No RF or IF output cable is supplied with this item. I never had this instument calibrated or serviced- it always worked fine for me and the results were completely consistent with the specs of the working equipment that I checked with it. I'm making no specific claims as to it's accuracy. Also included in the auction is the OEM Motorola manual and power cord. I do not have the front cover for this item- the latch bar and hinge pins are in place on the case. Cosmetically it's in good condition with scratches and marks consistent with it's age. Leader 3236 S1 AM FM Stereo RF Signal Generator Transmitter RDS GPIB– NICE! We have several of these test systems. They are a really nice RF generator that can be used to set up avionics. Receivers, or transmitting equipment, or as a signal source to a commercial FM radio station power transmitter. Because the frequency range stretches from 100kHz up to 170MHz, they are useful on AM, FM, Aviation com and VOR systems as well as a test system to interface to a GPIB controller to test electronics equipment. These were new in 2007 for $3950 each. Since these are the S1 version, they are set up to use RDS, Radio Data System to allow you to transmit text, song names, etc to equipped receivers. Most of them have never been used in class. I have fired them up and connected them to a frequency counter(which will also sell on ebay once I get all the ... moregenerators gone) with a 50ohm attenuator which shows the transmitting frequency, so they work. From what I can tell, something like a Panasonic 81 series, a Kenwood 5150, or a Kikusui 4310 are similar. There are quite a few from HP/Agilent, Boonton, and Marconi that do the same thing, but not as inexpensively as these will be. We have manuals and the warranty card for them. If you want. You can download a free pdf manual. It will be shipped with a standard IEC power cord. Use it to set up your audio system, transmitter, align that old all American five radio, put it on your testing shelf, set up your own pirate radio station, or use it as a low cost backup. We also have more modern RF frequency generators as well. Heathkit IG-37 Tube FM Stereo Generator, completely original, with manual.
OK. So I am selling some things I love, but that I don't use. This is a hard one to sell because it's so cool, but she really it has to go. This is an original condition Heathkit IG-37 FM Stereo Generator. For 220-240V with Australian plug, in working condition, which when I just tested it a moment ago, produces various audio signals through its composite output. These signals are correct when referenced to the control knob positions, output level varied nicely, all tubes have a healthy glow and the 19kHz pilot was spot on. I have not gone so far as to calibrate this old girl and she will no doubt need a careful once-over by her new owner. I will include a copy of the instructions for calibration and use. Bear in mind that all the components are original. This is wonderful from an originality perspective and that fact that it still ... moreworks. Even with these old parts is really good news. It's bad in the sense that I work on old gear and parts do wear out, especially capacitors. Luckily this old girl only has a couple of the type that do wear out, but just bear this in mind- if I were keeping her I might replace a couple of capacitors just to be safe. This really is a lovely old instrument. Very useful for calibrating old radios and new ones. They are now quite sort after by collectors and tube/valve radio guys and they were a very well designed kit in the first place. Overall condition is very good. There are a few scratches of course and somebody has soldered a ground to the outside of the composite output, but this doesn't affect operation and is not immediately obvious. You can see it in the last pic- I would just lightly dress this with a file and you will again be able to screw on the connector if desired. Personally, I would remove those and add BNC connectors. The top and bottom panels are especially good, with almost all the paint intact. Front and back panels are also pretty good, with one or two scratches on the front.
