Leader 3236 S1 AM FM Stereo RF Signal Generator Transmitter RDS GPIB– NICE! We have several of these test systems. They are a really nice RF generator that can be used to set up avionics. Receivers, or transmitting equipment, or as a signal source to a commercial FM radio station power transmitter. Because the frequency range stretches from 100kHz up to 170MHz, they are useful on AM, FM, Aviation com and VOR systems as well as a test system to interface to a GPIB controller to test electronics equipment. These were new in 2007 for $3950 each. Since these are the S1 version, they are set up to use RDS, Radio Data System to allow you to transmit text, song names, etc to equipped receivers. Most of them have never been used in class. I have fired them up and connected them to a frequency counter(which will also sell on ebay once I get all the ... moregenerators gone) with a 50ohm attenuator which shows the transmitting frequency, so they work. From what I can tell, something like a Panasonic 81 series, a Kenwood 5150, or a Kikusui 4310 are similar. There are quite a few from HP/Agilent, Boonton, and Marconi that do the same thing, but not as inexpensively as these will be. We have manuals and the warranty card for them. If you want. Up for bids is a used and Triplett Oscilloscope manufactured by the Triplett Instrument Co in Bluffton Ohio around or about 1948 or so. Unit appears to be in good condition with acceptable usage and wear marks. The unit was not fully tested but given a detailed inspection. I plugged in the unit and switched it on. The power light came on and it did not blow my garage circuit. A little bit of paint is chipping around the front of the unit. The lens that covers the small meter on front is in tact with no scratches or cracks. The carrying strap on top is in great condition. No burns or burn smells. All of the buttons and knobs are in good working order and lines up properly with the settings. I did not open the unit for a tube check. Looks like the unit ... morehas never been opened. Operating manual. Probes and test leads are not included. The original cost back in 1948 was around or about $154.00. BOONTON 102D FM-AM SIGNAL GENERATOR 450khz to 520mhz
This is a working unit but it is not perfect. It is great for working on Ham equipment or any radio with in its frequency range up to 520mhz. I used it with HF gear. I have noticed that it takes about 20 minutes to fully warm up when cold. Also two of the ranges have spots where the output seems to drop. They are the 130-260 range and the 260-520 range. This may just be a problem of cleaning and aligning. Overall this is a great piece of test equipment. One thing you can do is set the output to exactly 50 microvolts to adjust your S meter, or you can use it to calibrate frequency readout. The last picture is of the spec sheet if you are interested. It also comes with the original manual. This is a heavy unit and will be packed well. I've priced it accordingly, So I'm sure you will be happy.
