THIS BID IS FOR A VINTAGE Heathkit SG-8 RF signal generator. THE FIRST PICTURE SHOWS IN THE UPPER LEFT WHAT LOOKS LIKE A DENT BUT IT IS A GLARE FROM MY CAMERA. I PURCHASED THIS FROM A VERY NICE 96YEAR OLD MAN WHO TOLD ME IT WORKED GREAT BUT OTHER THAN THAT AND THE FACT THAT IT POWERED RIGHT UP WHEN I PLUGGED IT IN IS ALL I HAVE TO GO ON. I have not used it beyond that. However based on how nice the unit is cosmetically, I don't think there should be any issues with this unit. He also included the cable cord. Heathkit R. F. Signal Generator. Model SG-8 Unit power indicator light comes on when switched to ON. A toggle switch was added to turn unit on. The built in switch was probably bad. I listed it as For Parts or Not Working because I don't know if the unit is fully operational. I don't know how to test it further than just switching it to on. It has a test lead included. This tube RF Generator provides RF frequencies from 100 kHz to 110 MHz. It also has a switchable 400 Hz internal modulation at approximately 30% AM. MODEL. FEATURES, CONDITION: Standing just 8 inches tall. The lunchbox sized Heathkit Model SG-8 RF Signal Generator won’t take up valuable bench space. Here’s an unusually well preserved example with a front panel that looks factory fresh. The instrument was recently serviced, and the old obsolete Amphenol output connectors were replaced with BNC type that will be much more compatable with today’s cables and adapters. Components inside are looking fine with no signs of swelling or discoloration, and the generator has been recently tested. Generator will prove to be a valuable instrument to have when aligning radios, etc where you can switch in the on-board modulation circuit or externally modulate a signal on top of the RF signal. RF signal is adjustable from 150 KHz all the way up to 220 MHz in five adjustable steps on the band selector. ... moreSmoothly geared tuning condenser has great stability, and the dial index mark accurately points to the proper frequency calibrations. Photos of the electronics will show that this unit has a neat layout on a copper plated chassis, and interior is quite clean without corrosion. Pots and switches have been properly cleaned and work well, with switches positively engaging, power cord is safe and pliable. The unit has been tested, and the signals are present at all frequencies. The audio test signal is working as well with a very clean sine wave output. Modulation circuit works as well, and it was interesting to have a radio nearby to listen to the beat note and whistling as the IF and RF frequencies were being matched. Cosmetics are superb overall with only a few faint scratches on the gray textured wrinkle finish. Front panel looks factory fresh without a scratch, silkscreened graphics and numerals all legible, green pilot light is bright, and carry handle is safe and sturdy. Components inside are very easily serviced, and the 2 tubes are commonly found.
