Vintage 100 - 155 MHz RF Signal Generator Works! Antique!
One of those odd things I picked up in my travels thinking"this might be good for parts some day" Well. I finally got around to cleaning up the shop And here it is. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it seems to work! Powered up, an using a modern frequency counter, it actually spits out the indicated frequencies(well, OK, it's a bit off on the dial) No forther testing has been done. There is NO back for this, and it doesn't appear that one had ever been mounted(no screw holes on the back anywhere) The cabinet is wood( the front panel is metal, and the deluxe vintage masking tape function labels are included at no additional charge. This classic military HF RF signal generator is in good overall condition. It covers 10Khz-50 Mhz in nine ranges. I have done some very basic testing. No RF meter indication in CW position on any range. Attenuator does not appear to be fully functional. However a stable signal is created which appears to be spot on for frequency. See picture no. 3. Modulation tones appear OK. Calibration oscillator also appears OK. But weak. This will definitely need some work and alignment to get fully functional. They all do. This listing is for a very nice. Clean Heathkit model IGW-19 signal generator. Fully Tested and in perfect working condition. It is factory wired and. Except for the color, is identical to the IG-102S. It covers the frequency range from 100 KHz to 110 MHz on six fundamental bands, and from 110 to 220 MHz on a calibrated band of harmonics. It's output can be modulated externally or with it's own internal 400 Hz oscillator. The model IGW-19/ IG-102S differs from the more common model IG-102. It that it has two BNC output jacks on the face of the instrument that provide a high level output directly from the RF oscillator. This output was to be used for instruction purposes with the Berkeley Physics Laboratory course book. The Heathkit IG-102 may well have been the single most popular RF signal generator ever sold. It could be found in many HAM shacks. On the benches of professional radio& TV repair shops, and in hobby use. Its popularity was no doubt due to its relatively low cost, ease of construction and maintenance, and the fact that it delivered everything you really needed to get the job done. What it didn't have was a lot of"extras" that added mostly to the cost and little to the usefulness for everyday tasks- like fixing that ubiquitous All-American Five radio. TSG-17 100 KHz-150 MHz RF Signal Generator
I bought this generator from a seller on EBay who said it was practically new. I found the frequencies from 10 to 12 MHz. 37 to 40 MHz, and above 120MHz were dead. All the rest had beautiful sine waves. I found it had a lot of wasted space inside so l cut the chassis to about half it's size. I also installed a shielded transformer and a circuit breaker. I found the front switch only cut off the secondary of the transformer so I installed a switch in the back that cuts off all the power. When they sell new, you have to adjust the RF amplitude with a screwdriver so I installed a pot with a knob. The bands and good frequencies within those bands are as follows: Range. Frequencies that are Good. 100 KHz to 300 KHz All Good. 300 KHz to 1 MHz. All Good. 1 MHz to 3.2 MHz. All Good. 3 MHz to 10 MHz All Good. 10 MHz to 35 MHz 12.77 MHz to 37.71 ... moreMHz. 32 MHz to 150 MHz 40.7 MHz to 120 MHz. They currently sell well above $100 from several vendors.
