RELISTED. 1875 Virginia and Truckee Railroad employee's pay card. M. O'Brien worked 10 1/2 days as a laborer at $3.00 per day as certified by V&T foreman Paul Ryan. A lot of Irish workers were employed by the railroads. Made of cardstock. Similar to a pass. 3 3/4 X 2 1/2 inches, good condition. The V. T. is perhaps the most famous shortline railroad in the U.S. It ran from Virginia City to Carson City. Nevada; completed in 1870. A connection was later made with the Central Pacific(CPRR) at Reno. This Reno extension to the C.P.R.R. was finished in 1871.
