Woven Bamboo Strips with Resin to Make a 6" in Diameter Dish - Florida Souvenir
This souvenir of Florida is a lunch-size plate. Approximately 6" in diameter. I am not sure, but I think it is made from strips of some kind of plant material(bamboo? and woven. Then, I guess some kind of resin was applied to make it hard. The front is stamped with flowers and a poem that reads: Mother- To one who bears the sweetest name and adds a lustre to the same. Who shares my joys, who cheers when sad, the greatest friend I ever had. Long life to her for there's no other can take the place of my Dear Mother. Florida. There is a remnant of a sticker on the back; no hallmarks or labels. Condition: Used-Good. Small stain on the front. Circa: Unknown.

Description: A fine example of the 1789 Dezauche edition of Buache's important map of the West Indies. Centered on Cuba. This massive map covers Central America, the Gulf of Mexico, the West Indies, and the Caribbean from Mexico and Texas to the Lesser Antilles and from Florida to the Spanish Main. Cartographically Buache derived this map from Henry Popple's remarkable 1733 map of North America. As a whole it exhibits numerous significant advances over earlier Buache/ De L'Isle model of the region. These include a more sophisticated mapping of peninsular Florida, the Gulf Coast, and the interior of Texas, Florida, and Mexico. The Mission de Los Teijas, one ... moreof the first usages of the world'Texas' and a published map, is noted. Rumb lines are evident throughout, suggesting this map sea chart sources. The casual observer might note a similarity in form to Herman Moll's similarly sized 1710 map of the West Indies. Like Moll's map Buache's map can be understood, though to a lesser extent, in the context of Caribbean piracy and privateering, which reached its zenith in the middle part of the 18th century. Buache identifies the trade winds with little arrows and the routes taken by Spanish Galleons traveling between the treasure ports of Havana and Veracruz. The Spanish treasure fleet entered the Caribbean via the passage between Granada and Trinidad. The fleet then sailed westwards, skirting the Spanish Main until they reached Cartagena(region shaded in light blue) where they rested and provisioned before heading northwards, rounding western Cuba and stopping in Havana. Description: A nice example of Antonio Zatta's fascinating map of Mexico. Texas, Florida, Louisiana, and Central America. Centered on what would soon be known as Texas, this map covers from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and from the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay tot eh Isthmus of Panama. This remarkable map of the region, which predated Humboldt's landmark map of 1810, illustrates just how little was known of the American southwest north of Mexico. Cartographically Zatta offers little new information– for none was forthcoming form the Americas at the time– and derives most of this map from the work of Robert de Vaugondy, ... moresome 10 year prior. The mission settlements along the Rio del Nord(Rio Grande) are well noted, but other regions to the north and west remain paese incognito. Zatta sets the Rio del Palma as the northern border of New Spain(Mexico) and the border of Louisiana just west of the Mississippi, clearly defining the regional boundaries of Nuovo Messico roughly along the lines of early 19th century Texas. The Mississippi Valley itself is poorly represented, as is Florida, whose southern top is a network of islands and canals– a common if primitive attempt to describe the Everglades. The lower left bears an interesting title cartouche decorated with curious flora supposedly indigenous to the region. Published in Zatta's 1795 Atlante Novissimo a monumental four volume opus and one of the last great decorative atlases of the 18th century. Size: Printed area measures 13 inches high by 16.5 inches wide. Condition: Good. Some soiling and marginal repairs. Original centerfold. Blank on verso. This lot consists of 12 never worn Florida Marlins Road New Era 5950 game model(not a replica. But EXACTLY what the team wore on the field) from the period of 1994-1996. These hats are still in the original New Era box that they were packaged in after being made. Each hat still has the original New Era 5950 as well as Diamond Authentics tags attached. These are NOT replica jerseys or a cheap knockoff MLB merchandise that has flooded the market from China over the last couple years. These are the same EXACT hats the Marlins wore for their road games. The skull portion of the hat is teal and the bill is black.
