Very cute old glass candy container. It is a large ship container. Bottom and lid. It has the name Wheeling on both sides of the ship. There are a few chips and nicks around the inside and outside rim of the bottom and top. Also one on one of the top, I guess they are, smoke stacks. Still displays nicely but not in perfect condition. It measures to be about 6 1/2" long and about 4 1/2" high. There is also a clear glass gun which is missing its screw top. The seller is offering a very rare original Kodachrome slide of the Japanese-flag Kawasaki Kisen KK 1974-built container ship LIONS GATE BRIDGE as shown while in Canadian waters in March 1981. She was sold out of the Fleet in 1991. This remarkable sharp sunny view was taken from shoreside with a 35mm SLR camera using a high quality 50mm standard lens. I can attest that this slide is devoid of marks. Scratches and blemishes as well as to its high quality, much better than this low resolution scan. Vintage rectangular tin container from Verkade. Cover features an old fashioned tall ship sailing the high seas on a sunny day with a few fishes swimming nearby. A couple of sailors are tending to the sails. The four sides of the tin's body also feature happy fish swimming around the water. Embossed on the bottom Koninklijke Verkade Fabrieken N.V. Zaandam-Holland. Logo looks like a dog standing on a horse. Measures about 10 inches by 6.75 inches by 2.25 inches. C o n d i t i o n: Tin is over 30 years old and does show its age. Metal is tarnished. Especially around the rims and on the silver tone parts where there are grey-black marks from handling. A few dents on the edges, corners and lid. A couple of small rust spots on the smiling sun. Remnants of paper covering remain on edges of container. There are scratches and while the colors ... moreremain strong. Do expect a few areas of uneven color wear. Tin was taped on one side at one time and the outline and some residue of the tape remain on the lid and side.
