Red pip berry and gingham tie placed in a candle holder sconce that has been painted black, crackled, and stenciled with star.Candle is decoration only not for burning) The middle shelf is 16"x41/2" The shelf has been painted black and crackled just on the front with two black pegs and a black star. Hanging from one peg is a painted wood angel head and wings with heart. Sitting on the shelf is a battery operated candle that will flicker. The candle has a gingham tie with lime green pip berry. This is a wonderful pair of carved wood-look corbels/shelves made from resin. I believe. Solid brass recessed hangers. The color is picture number 5 comes closest to the real thing, but they are actually a little darker, kind of a mahogony color, I would say. They measure 9 1/2 inches across, 5 3/4 inches deep and about 6 inches in length. Need a good cleaning, but I'll leave that to the buyer. I kind of like the dusty look! In addition to the gorgeous burl walnut veneer on all sides but the back, the fabulous hand carved handles really make this wardrobe special. The shelves are 12.55 inches tall, have a depth of 7.45 inches& one side is 8 inches long. The shelves are completely hand-carved& silver leaf gilded. It is typical that all of the parts that were not visible to the eye were not covered in silver leaf as the process and the material was very expensive at the time. Hence, the back is painted and the shelf cover might have been covered with a remnant of fine cloth or silk. This type of étargère or what-not shelf was extremely popular at the late 18th century court and was used to display favourite bibelots. I.e. a Meissen or KPM porcelain figure. The cupboard is a very early and very primitive piece. It is made mostly from pine and put together with rose head nails. Overall it is in good condition. It has been refinished before. And it probably had doors originally. Also there is a some damage to the right bottom corner of it, but nothing major. These issues do not affect the functionality of the cupboard and It would be a perfect display piece. They are very ornate and the gold is just the perfect gold color and they are quite large and make a huge statement. They are really different and quite lovely. There is cracking to the wood in areas, but none of it looks broken to me. I tried to take as many photos as possible to show you every detail but if you want more photos of the cracking just let me know. Also the very tip of the bottom might have minor knicks out of it, you cant tall from the front but you can see from the back in photo number 7. Vtg Bathroom Medicine Cabinet w/ Art Deco Mirror 3 Shelves 30s - 40s Wood 20"
This auction is for a Vintage Painted Wood Medicine Cabinet with a Mirrored Door and Shelves. This cabinet came out of a Doctor's bathroom in a small town hospital that was built in 1931 with an addition added in 1947. So I believe the age of the cabinet is during that time period. The box of the cabinet measures 18" high x 13.25" wide x 4" deep. The mirrored door is 20.25" high. It is a three-shelf(shelves not adjustable) cabinet painted white with a curved top Art Deco mirror. The cabinet back has been replaced with solid wood and the whole cabinet is solid wood. No plywood. As shown in the pictures, silvering has flaked off from age at the top of the mirror and the wood back is showing through. This could be re-silvered if desired. The cabinet can be mounted to the wall by drilling through the back, which is under ... more1/4" thick, or adding hangers. In spite of the silvering missing from the mirror.
