An excellent quality porcelain pin tray. Or possibly a teapot stand( probably dating to the second half of the 19th Century. The central panel is well painted with a scene of two horsemen, one dismounted, against a landscape with a building in the distance. Set against a deep blue ground with extensive gilding. Blue, Vienna"beehive" mark on the unglazed base. Measuring 4.75" across and in perfect condition, with no wear to the painting or gilding that I can see. This is a 3 1/2 lb solid brass tray or table top with beautiful carved teak wood stand. It is 25" tall and the top is 22" in diameter. Total package weight is 28 pounds so this is going to be big! Gouda Ivora High Glaze Nouveau Art Pottery Desk Tray Pen Stand Inkwell I just purchased this vintage Gouda art pottery desk/ pen/ ink stand from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The piece was produced by Plateelfabriek Ivora. Which was created by Ivon van der Want in 1914 to replace the centuries old pipe manufactury, P. Van der Want Co. The timing was opportunistic in that Rozenburg closed in 1914, making their highly regarded designers and decorators available(The World of Gouda Pottery, Ritvo) This pen stand has a striking Art Nouveau inspired design with stylized flower blossoms and foliage hand painted on an ivory ground. The under glaze hand painting shows rich color and fine line. The set consists of a welled tray, domed lid and well insert. The piece bears the" IVORA. GOUDA" HOLLAND. script mark and production number" ... more310/2" The tray and lid are in excellent condition with no damage. The well insert has a chip on the top rim edge(+/ ½" x 1/8" and a faint bruise on the bottom edge. There is also a ½ pinhead shallow glaze bubble opening on the rim corner edge, done in production. This Ivora high glaze inkwell would make a nice addition to any collection of vintage Gouda pottery or Art Nouveau/ Deco inspired desk/ library décor. International bidders.
