Horiba CO Laser Gas Beam Detector Cell NDIR Sensor Module Optics Assembly Part
This is an odd one! The sensing element of this detector is carbon monoxide gas itself. This is a high range sensor meaning that the% CO inside the cell is Higher then the high range sensor. It was part of combustion efficiency regulator for a gas fired power plant. It has sapphire windows that pass mid IR light. And internally it is two cells with a precision pressure transducer that measures the pressure change between the cells. When mid IR light passes through it, the gas inside absorbs the light heats up and expands This makes it give a large signal for a very small percentage of gas. Besides it's original use it could be used as a laser energy detector for mid IR chemical lasers or other uses. If desired you could refill the gas cells with another gas to make it detect other wavelengths. It is a very high quality part that is difficult ... moreto find.
