Old valve was used as a throttle valve on a 1910"60" Case when I bought it about 30 years ago. The old timer I bought the Case from preferred it to the standard Case throttle. It did work pretty well but I replaced it with a Case throttle just to be historically correct. This has been sitting around here for 30 years. The lumps on it are dried cylinder oil. I scraped some of it off to expose the name stamped into the casting. Stephens mfg Co Detroit Mich. Bronze body and gate, forged steel lever. 2" pipe size. What it was used on originally I don't know. The fellow I bought the Case from was born about 1900 and no doubt had access to any amount of steam engine parts when they were being junked.
