This is an old RCA RF signal generator in good electrical and cosmetic condition. The RF output is good on all bands; although the waveform isn't the greatest(I'll post pictures) it is totally suitable for receiver alignment and other general RF uses. The small size(5" X 6" X 9" makes this ideal for someone with limited bench space. There is some discoloration on the front panel as shown in the pictures. HP 8660C RF Signal Generator Mainframe
This is a used HP 8660C RF Signal Generator for parts. This unit partially functions. But caused a known good RF module to keep dropping out. I have used the side panels and the Manual Tuning switch& Tuning RPG to replace ones on a good unit that got broken in shipping. The right handle on this unit is completely broken off. The left handle is broken at the top. This was the shipping damage to the original good unit. The keyboard of this unit appears to function properly and the frequencies can be selected as shown in the first three pictures. I have not performed any troubleshooting on this unit since it was intended to be used only for replacement parts, however, my guess would be that the 11661 Frequency Extension Module is causing the dropouts. There are certainly a number of good assemblies in this unit that could be used for repair ... moreon other units. This is a heavy unit(about 60 pounds) I will pack it so no additional damage occurs. Heathkit RF-1 Signal Generator in Excellent Calibrated Condition(The RF-1 is the same as the Heathkit IG-102 with a different color front panel. Internal construction and operating specs are identical. This Heathkit signal generator is in excellent condition. It has been completely checked out and the Heathkit calibration procedure performed. This generator works very well and puts out a stable modulated signal from the AM broadcast band up to 22 MHZ which was the highest frequency I could check with my SW receiver. I was able to check the frequency output up to about 70 MHZ with my bench counter and it worked very well to that range. The generator is very accurate and I have included a few pictures showing its output into an HP counter. The internal 400 HZ modulation works very well. All chassis components have been checked out and the tubes ... morewere checked and found to be strong. The old filter capacitors have been replaced with new equivalent components. Out of tolerance resistors have been replaced. All controls operate perfectly and all pots and switches have been cleaned with contact cleaner. The Heathkit calibration procedure has been performed and this unit is very accurate. The attenuation controls work properly and provide an infinite range of output attenuation. As you can see in the pictures this RF-1 is in excellent cosmetic condition and looks and works very well. The case is in exceptional condition. There are no scratches. Rust, paint loss or other signs of abuse. There are no names, numbers, or other previous user added etched or painted symbols. see pictures) The knobs and handle are in excellent condition. Each unit successfully transmitted music to an AM radio a few feet away. The Internal Modulator was also tested. The Heathkit IG-102 may well have been the single most popular RF signal generator ever sold. It could be found in many HAM shacks. On the benches of professional radio& TV repair shops, and in hobby use. Its popularity was no doubt due to its relatively low cost, ease of construction and maintenance, and the fact that it delivered everything you really needed to get the job done. What it didn't have was a lot of"extras" that added mostly to the cost and little to the usefulness for everyday tasks- like fixing that ubiquitous All-American Five radio.
