Looks like bakelite to me. Not sure if it has been used or not. Some of the red paint on the cover screws had been worn away but not much other sign of use. I have looked at the 2 sets of contacts(one pair each side) under high magnification in good light and I can see no sign of blackening/ burning/ sparking/ melting. They are very close together of course so it wasn't possible to see the surfaces perfectly. The"active" contacts. The ones which would move, do show tarnishing/ oxidation due, I would think, to age. 14.00 This is a Line Tool Company 3-axis micropositioner. For precision mechanical/electrical/optical work. This model will produce movements in the X-Y-Z planes. Each slide has 1 inch travel. Dimensions of the mounting slide are 2-1/8 inches wide by 2-3/4 inches high. The mounting slide has twelve#10-32 tapped holes. The base has four drilled and counterbored holes for fastening. Attached to this particular unit are aluminum legs, as shown in the photos. These can be removed if not needed. The vertical slide will carry 4 pounds. One or two extra springs can be added and each spring will allow the unit to carry 2 additional pounds. It is not recommended to add the extra springs unless they are needed to support extra weight. The castings are of high strength aluminum and finished with light gray enamel. The ball races and slides are tool ... moresteel hardened to 60- 62 Rc and nickel plated. This a Line Co. one axis micropositioner that appears to be a model F. May be missing the subbase-what you see in the pitchures will be what you receive.
