These are manufacturing pulled wafers- 100% perfect wafers would cost in excess of $500(US Dollars) and in any case would not be for sale on eBay as the manufacturer always destroys any surplus wafers. There will be some imperfections and micro scratches and this is just part and parcel of buying used wafers- you gotta live with it! The gallery photo shows how this wafer looks under halogen lighting- stunning eh? The second and third photos are of the wafer under a simple neon tube desk lamp. 8 inch Silicon wafer - IGBT driver circuits from International Rectifier
These are the only wafers I've ever seen from IR and they are very interesting under the microscope. These chips have unusual structures and large patterns in the silicon. I assume this has something to do with high voltage and/or high current tolerance. Photos were taken with a Canon pocket camera using flash or under standard incandescent room lights. These are not color enhanced. Colors are caused by diffraction of light and will change dramatically depending on viewing angle and lighting conditions. A rare MIPS CPU wafer and packaged chip combination that any vintage chip or wafer collector would love to have. Both items were manufactured by performance semiconductor 1990-1991. The fully processed wafer looks mostly green and/or pink depending on viewing angle and lighting conditions. The processor chip is new and unused. It is very difficult to photograph this object as it is so shiny but here is what it is: A 1 3/4 inch diameter processed pure silicon wafer with etched die pattern Etched patterns/circuits for the Synchronar 2100 watch, The SYNCHRONAR was the very first LED watch. There were a number of fully working SYNCHRONAR prototypes in use prior to PULSAR's staged prototype demo in May of 1970. In spite of this. PULSAR is often incorrectly credited as the first LED watch- it was not second- it was FIRST. The Synchronar watch. Named the 2100, ... morewas a digital watch with an accuracy of +/ 8 seconds per year. It was unique at the time in that it had rechargeable batteries that were charged using solar cells mounted on the top face of the watch. The actual time was read from the side of the watch- see the photo below: The CPU that powered this watch was designed by Roget Reihl and manufactured by Ragen Semiconductor Coproration in the USA. Roger was a visionary for his time and pushed through the development of the 2100 personally. Designing the CPU and even becoming a member of the board of Ragen in order to get the CPU manufactured. The Synchronar 2100 watch was programmed to lastuntil the year 2100- hence the 2100 name. It calculated leap years, displayed date and time and all sorts of other functions. It was also fully sealed and waterproof guaranteed to 100 feet and actually tested down to 700 feet! At one pointit was marketed as a dive watch called the"Dive Master" It is a great item and very interesting– could be embedded in Lucite or mounted in a nice frame.
