Hello. I wish I could tell you a whole lot more than I am able to. You can always contact me with questions that I can Visually answer. I am not with the knowledge one would have on how this item works. I do know this item is made extremely well and is quite heavy at 15 Pounds 8 Ounces without the wooden box and 26.7 pounds with Box. NOTE: The box is rough looking on outside as the veneer is coming off outside surface but the box is solid. The size of the Box is 9 3/4" by 12 7/8' by 14 3/4" The Lens on the bottom is a 2X made in Japan. The two Eye Piece Lenses in the Microscope are both W15X and there are two others in the Slide Out Box attached to inside left along with two Plain Caps. There is an adjustment to change the power from 0.75X- 1X- 1.5X- 2X- 3X. The distance between the Base Surface to the Interchangeable 2X Lens ... morethat is mounted on bottom has a clearance of about 5/8" When this Microscope is opened at it's capacity, there is 7 3/4" Between the Base Surface and the bottom of the 2X Lens. There is a hole for a light kit that did not come with this piece and may never of had one? There is a box that is slide mounted to the right side Carrying Case that would hold some Lenses? and Parts? That box did not have anything in it when I bought this item and maybe never had anything with this set? There is a Cardboard Box with a Spring Loaded Lid that is handwritten marked. 809: Extra Bulb) and there was not a Bulb inside. There was a Plastic Box inside the Cardboard Box with a Spring Loaded Lid. Inside the Plastic Box was a Glass Slide that is marked 0.001 Inch. That Black Plastic Box is marked with the following. SWIFT& No.11 CAT. MA664 are Ink Stamped on the surface and OBJECTIVE MICROMETER is Embossed into the surface. Up for auction is a vintage Bausch& Lomb 40X lighted inspection microscope. w/case. In mint condition. I'm not sure what this was used for originally, as there were several steel clamping blocks, retaining screws, and an Allen wrench included with the case. The unit has light bulb illumination employing two“C” batteries(not included) Lens also has a built-in vernier scale reticule(eyepiece micrometer) marked off in 1/100's of inches. The optics and viewing image appear bright and clear; see the photo of some highly magnified lettering I took through the eyepiece. Focusing is accomplished by sliding the lens barrel and securing it at the focus point with a thumb screw.
