Its reputation ... moreas a brown trout fishery is well deserved, producing some monster "once in a life time" fish, but also holds good numbers of 19"- 24" fish. Chasing these trophies can be an immensely rewarding challenge. The White River is also heavily stocked with 12"-14" rainbow trout to provide consistent sport all year round on all water levels for all skill levels. Some rainbows, and cutthroat, can be still found well over 20", truly remarkable captures. Few tend to talk about the beauty of the White River as it glides past hill and holler: the soaring limestone bluffs, the dogwoods and redbuds of spring, the subtle mists and lush green banks of summer, the reds and gold of fall, and the stark gothic tones of winter.
FISHING THE WHITE
The White River is best known as a nymphing water, with consistent year round midge hatches and a plentiful supply of scuds and sowbugs plus bigger fare. Less well known are the increasingly strong hatches of Caddis (March-May), Sulphurs (June-July) and Terrestrials which can offer superb dry fly fishing depending on the water flows. Our team is also seriously streamer addicted, as the best way to chase a genuine White River Trophy with a fly rod and we pride ourselves on our knowledge and gear selection. On low flows the White is easily waded, on higher flows there is still a surprising amount of fishing available for those on foot. But the White also offers tremendous watercraft based fishery on all water levels.

The Norfork Tailwater, the lower 5 miles of the North Fork of the White River, is as gorgeous a stream as you are likely to find anywhere in the USA. For good reason it was named one ... moreof Trout Unlimited's Top 5 Rivers to fish last decade. The Princess of Tailwaters is smaller, more intimate, and more like a western river than the broad expanses of the White. She offers the variety of the White, runs, riffles, flat pools, and plunge pools, poured onto a smaller canvas. Its also a great place to get an Arkansas Slam, all 4 trout species, browns, rainbows, brook and cutthroat on a single day. Yet despite the indignities she has suffered in recent years, runoff pollution, low dissolved oxygen, and massive flooding, the Norfork keeps bouncing back, like the sweetheart she is, producing quality fish and wonderful days. It's oft forgotten that not long before Rip Collin's 40lb 4oz world record brown caught on the Little Red River, the Norfork had produced her own contender, from McLellan's Dock.
FISHING THE NORFORK TAILWATER
Norfork probably packs more variety in her 5 miles than most rivers in their whole length. The river remains a favorite for low water waders, more readily available than the White. But access is now only available at only 3 points, Quarry Park, the Ackerman Access and at the Confluence with the White. It takes some strong legwork and a knowledge of the generation patterns to get away from the crowds. Please read out Water Flow information as a guide. Many waders vacate the river totally when generation starts but few realise the quality fishing, and wading offered by floating the river by canoe, pontoon or drift boat. Like the White, sowbugs, scuds and midges form the mainstay of the food base, plus larger fare like sculpins, minnows and crawdads. Traditional nymphing, swung wet flies and European nymphing are all productive techniques. But there are also good opportunities for dry fly fishing on the midge, caddis, sulphur and terrestrial hatches. Norfork also can be a nice, pontoon or canoe float, to access the less traveled middle part of the river.

This little spring and lake fed creek offers no less than the world's best fishery for the under-16s. Every guide on our team, and every adult we know, wishes they could get a pass ... moreto fish Dry Run Creek for a day ... it's that much fun. Dry Run Creek is a natural creek flowing alongside the Norfork National Fish Hatchery and into Norfork Tailwater. It holds, courtesy of the food-rich outflow of the hatchery, phenomenal quantities of quality fish, even by White River system standards. Probable state record rainbows and some seriously big brown trout and cutthroat have been caught and released on this creek. The monsters take some landing, but there are plenty of quality 18" to 22" fish which provide great thrills for any kid.
FISHING DRY RUN CREEK
It only takes one walk along the banks of Dry Run Creek for every adult fly fishing to wish they were 15 again, if only for a day. If there is a better fishery for kids, and handicapped anglers, we would be surprised. Dry Run Creek runs alongside the Norfork National Fish Hatchery. Rebuilt a few years ago under the guidance of Dave Whitlock, and better than ever, Dry Run Creek is small and intimate, just as wide as a beginner's roll cast. The clear shallow water allows amazing sightfishing opportunities, but there are still nooks and crannies to allow the better fish to hide out. Sight fishing to particular fish is also a bonus on this small creek is often the best way to target the serious fish. Sowbugs, midges, scuds, worms and egg patterns are all popular and woolly buggers do well as well. Carry a big net and a camera.

Your professional/instructional fly fishing guide will assist you in everything from learning how to fish the river and what techniques to use to get fish. With our custom self-bailing rafts you will be floating the way you should be safe and comfortable. Our agenda includes drifting from pool to pool. Some we will wade, others we fish from the rafts.
Trout: The summer time fly fishing along the Methow River is a consistent fishery with great action and less pressure than the Yakima. From the serious to the novice angler the Methow River fly fishing has something for everyone. Trout include rainbows up to "18 + and nice westsloap cutthroat and the elusive big cuttbows. Our biggest Cuttbow was 28 Inches!
Steelhead: Come check out this strong run of steelhead. We fish traditional surface and sub-surface swings along with nymph techniques depending on angler preference. Hatchery fish can be kept for the freezer. Each morning your guide will meet you riverside or at your hotel ready to hit the river.
The Bighorn River begins life as the Wind, flowing ESE out of the mountains of Western Wyoming, through the town of Dubois and the Wind River Indian Reservation. At Riverton the river ... moreabruptly turns North and begins to back up as Boysen Reservoir behind a 220 ft. dam built at the head of the beautiful Wind River Canyon. Emerging from the dam a river once more, the Wind flows through the Owl Creek Mountains, leaving the Wind River Basin.
As the river exits the canyon and spills into the Bighorn Basin, its name is changed to the Big Horn. One river, two names. It is here at Wedding of the Waters where we begin our adventures and float through the town of Thermopolis, home to the world's largest mineral hot springs.
A Dry Fly Paradise
Beginning in March, thick hatches of Midge & Blue Winged Olives bring trout to the surface after a long Winter of eating tiny nymphs. By late June, Tricos appear on the scene and hatch en masse every morning until October. It is common to see pods of rising trout 30 or 40 fish deep, making a flat piece of water look like a riffle. Several species of Caddis are available throughout the summer as well as terrestrials. The Blue Wings will make one more appearance in the Fall after the water has cooled.
3,000 Trout per Mile - Browns, Rainbows & Cutthroat
Fishing nymphs can be productive year-round but is best in late Winter or early Spring before moss becomes an issue. Average sized fish is 16-18 inches with many 20 inches and beyond. Streamer fishing can be hard work on this river, but the rewards often make it worth the effort.
Most fishing is done from the boat, as Wyoming Water Access laws limit anchoring and wading opportunities to certain sections of the river.
We can accommodate anglers of all abilities. All trips include flies (we tie 90% of the flies we use on guided trips), shuttle, terminal tackle, the use of a rod & reel if needed, and lunch on full day trips; half days include water and snacks. We practice catch & release of all Wild Trout.

Fishing the Big Hole River
The Big Hole River, often referred to as the ‘Last Best River‘, begins at Skinner Lake, high in the Beaverhead Mountains of Southwest Montana. This free flowing, Blue Ribbon Trout Stream is home to fluvial Arctic Grayling, Cutthroats, Brook Trout, Mountain Whitefish, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. Wild and free, the Big Hole River rises near the small town of Jackson, Montana and flows more than 150 miles to join the Ruby and the Beaverhead River to form the Jefferson River in Twin Bridges, Montana. From our location, its easy to sample some of the best Montana fishing.
River at the Silver Bow Club
The Silver Bow Club boasts 3.5 miles of riverfront on the Big Hole River in the Canyon Stretch. Located approximately 50 river miles from the confluence of the Jefferson, the Silver Bow Club sits on the best stretch of river in terms of fish size and population. Our guests are encouraged to access the river by crossing the hay meadows and access the numerous pools, riffles and runs. Only during spring run-off is the river too high to wade comfortably. For those who prefer to float, the Big Hole River offers numerous boat launches. Just upstream from the Silver Bow Club is the Divide Bridge access. Here you’ll find an easy boat launch and picnic area. Downstream, is the Maiden Rock Fishing Access. Float the beautiful canyon for some of the best fly fishing the Big Hole River has to offer.

The North Fork River is much smaller than the White River. It averages 35 -50 yards across and at low water 80% of the river can be waded. The North Fork tends to have low water levels ... moremore often than the White River so it is popular with fly fishermen, who enjoy wading. Within this Arkansas river’s catch & release areas, the fishing is technically demanding, often requiring anglers to fish tiny flies on light tippets. 3 wt to 4 wt 9’ rods are the right stick to use.
With the low, clear flows the fish can be spooky of poorly executed casts and drifts that aren’t natural. Scuds and sowbugs are found in the North Fork Riverand represent the largest portion of its year round food base. Midge hatches are present nearly all year long. The river also has hatches of Blue Wing Olives,White Sulphurs, Crane flies, and Caddis. In the late summer, terrestrial patterns such as beetles and ants work well. There is very little open pasture next ot the North Fork and grasshopper patterns are not a major thing. Your guide is there to match your skills to a technique that will produce fish on that day.
Full Day trips include a fresh custom made deli sandwich, the world's greatest brownie, chips and soft drink of your choice (requires 48 hour advance notice). Cold bottled water and soft drinks (of your choice, if provided) will be on board. You are welcome to bring your favorite adult beverage for moderate comsumption. Smoking on board is not a problem.
The Gallatin River is one of the closest, in proximity to Bozeman, Montana. As it makes its course from Yellowstone National Park to the Headwaters of the Missouri River, the Gallatin ... moreRiver flows through a diverse topography. High mountain meadows near Yellowstone Park, robust pocket water through the Gallatin Canyon, and the wide open spaces of the Gallatin Valley offer three distinct environments in which to fish and explore this fine river. Since it is smaller than many of our other rivers, the Gallatin offers a good opportunity for fishing on foot. Consistent hatches of caddis, mayflies and stoneflies throughout the season make the Gallatin an easy choice on any day.
On its way to the Missouri Headwaters, the Jefferson River passes through an assorted landscape. At the town of Twin Bridges, Montana the Ruby River, Beaverhead River and Big Hole ... moreRiver converge to form the Jefferson. In its early stages the river advances past hay fields, large stands of cottonwood and agricultural landscapes. As the river reaches the town of Cardwell, the Jefferson is then flanked by large canyon walls, home to Lewis and Clark Caverns. Downstream of the canyon the river again proceeds through farm and ranchland laced with cottonwood trees until joining the Madison and Gallatin rivers. Though fishing on the Jefferson can be less consistent than on some of our other rivers, it can certainly make up for it with some very special moments. When the Jefferson is good, it can be great!
The Lower Madison provides memorable Montana angling adventures. The river begins below Ennis Lake, flows through the majestic Beartrap Canyon and 35 miles downstream to the Headwaters ... moreof the Missouri River. Because it is dam-controlled, the Lower Madison can be reliable when stream flows are higher in the Spring, and in late Fall when water temperatures start to drop elsewhere. Although not as well known as its upstream neighbor, The Upper Madison, the Lower is an exceptional fishery that can produce trout in attractive numbers and size. The Lower Madison is mostly known as a Brown and Rainbow trout fishery, though some cutthroats do exist in the river. Prolific hatches and large numbers of crayfish and sculpins make for very well-fed fish in The Lower Madison.
The Missouri River below Holter Dam offers fine Montana tail-water fishing. Nice sized trout in good numbers inhabit this section of the Missouri, which winds it’s way through broad ... morecanyon walls before leaving the mountains for the plains. Both Brown and Rainbow trout call the Missouri River home, and are willing to take a wide variety of fly patterns. Because it is a popular fishing destination, the Missouri can see crowded conditions. Those seeking solitude may find one of our other trips more suitable. This section of the Missouri River is located 2 hours from our home of Bozeman, Montana. Our trips to the Missouri are a minimum of 2 days. Our Missouri River Guide Rate is higher than our Standard Rate to provide for guide’s transportation and lodging.

The Upper Madison begins its journey in Yellowstone Park. Soon after leaving the park boundaries into Montana, Hebgen Dam creates the first of three reservoirs on the Madison River. ... moreA few miles downstream another reservoir was created in 1959 by an earthquake and resulting landslide. This body of water is known as, “Earthquake Lake”. From here the Upper Madison flows through the Madison Valley, past the town of Ennis and into Ennis Lake. The Lake being the, “divider” between the Upper and Lower river. Known as the, “50 mile riffle” the Upper Madison provides great structure and trout habitat wherever you look. Healthy populations of Brown and Rainbow trout, as well as, a huge variety of hatches and methods to fish them, make this river a favorite for many of our guests.

Healthy, wild populations of Brown, Rainbow and Cutthroat trout keep beginners in the action and the avid fisherperson on their toes. The Bighorn River is located approximately 200 miles southeast of Bozeman. Our trips to the Bighorn are a minimum of 3 days. Our Bighorn River Guide Rate is higher than our Standard Rate to provide for guide’s transportation and lodging.

The Yakima River is Central Washington's premier wild trout fishery. Over thousands of years, the river has sliced it's way through the valley floor, cutting through huge, jagged basalt stone canyon walls before reaching it's final destination with the Columbia River, well over 200 miles from its origins. This blue ribbon trout stream originates from the water's of the Stuart Mountain Range. The rugged, massive peaks of Mt. Daniel and Mt. Stuart tower over the Kittitas Valley at elevations exceeding 9500 ft. The high mountain snows of winter, blanket these mountains most of the year creating the annual water reserves, which are contained in 4 separate man-made reservoirs. It is from these waters in which the majority of the Yakima River flows.
These waters are collected from numerous high mountain lakes and small mountain tributaries that burst during the spring's warming months. As melting snow begins to thaw, small tributaries of the Yakima fill, bursting with the winters snow pack accumulations and each reservoir begins to fill. These reservoirs store massive amounts of water behind man made impoundments of wood, stone and concrete. During spring and early summer water is released from these facilities to vacillate farming irrigation and water needs for the Kittitas and the Lower Yakima Valley as well as providing valuable fish habitat and fly-fishing recreation. The Keechulus, Kachees, Easton and the Cle Elum Reservoirs, supply the Upper Yakima River with the necessary water to produce some of the best fly fishing the state has to offer.
