Four days later, on August 17, Stone’s plane crashed into Lake Michigan after reaching a height of 1,000 feet, and Stone also survived this crash as well. Here Artist original clay sculpture is nearly ready for the foundry. Note the artist is still adding the finishing touches. Most sculptors prefer to work with clay or wax; some however. Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Note the registration marks which later in the process will serve to realign the parts. Shown here are the sections of the original clay sculpture after having been dissected. Now the various parts of the original are carefully mounted on clay plugs before the rubber mold material is applied. The clay plug later serves as a pour spout for the mold. WW1 1918 Camp Lewis 41 page book of History- This is truly a rare soft covered book Lt. Col. David Stone- Tacoma WA. All pages are accounted for(Pages 21-24) have detached from the staples.they are there and in good shape. This book has wonderful fold-out maps& pictures showing(then) Camp Lewis. It has wonderful history about the Col. who coordinated in the building of this Camp/Fort. It has interesting facts of how much material was used. How much it costs at the time.and much more. For its age. Its not bad at all. The cover is loose and the staples are barely hanging on. The foldouts are good and attached well. I have photographed the one that has a tear in it. The pictures/graphics/writing etc is good. Please ask any/all questions before bidding. In 1916 Tacoma civic leaders promoted the development of a United States Army camp on ... morethe Nisqually Plain. Located in Pierce County south of Tacoma. They succeeded in gaining War Department support and in January 1917 Pierce County voters overwhelming approved a bond to purchase about 70,000 acres and donate the land to the federal government for a military camp. In May 1917, Captain David L. Stone(1876-1959) Quartermaster Corps, arrived at the American Lake site to supervise camp construction. Hurley-Mason Construction of Tacoma started work on June 15. They erected 1,757 major buildings with a troop capacity of 44,685. On July 18, 1917, the camp was named in honor of Meriwether Lewis(1774-1809) of the Lewis and Clark expedition, and it opened on September 1, 1917. The Ninety-First Division, Major General Henry A. Greene(1856-1921) commanding, arrived and launched into rigorous training. The Ninety-First Division served with honor in France and as they fought, the Thirteenth Division trained at Camp Lewis, but then World War I ended and the division dissolved. International Bidders must contact me first before bidding f or a shipping quote Description. Welcome. Up for auction is a Vintage Camillus Pilots Survival knife and sheath made in New York in 1968. The knife measures 9 1/2 inches long and has a blade of 5 inches long. The blade has been used and has light sharpening marks. The blade is solid as a rock, nothing loose or wobbly. The top clip is very sharp as is the blade and has less than normal wear. The top saw tooth is also very sharp. The pommel is marked Camillus N.Y. 11-1968. The original sheath has less than normal wear. The keeper strap is just about off the sheath. The sheath has the sharpening stone but still holds the knife very well.
