Made of 1/2" plywood& 2X2's, the roof is papered& shingled. Dimensions are: 44" deep, 68" long, 18" high(coop floor to roof eave) with a 28" peak rooftop. The roof has an access door to make it easy to check on the hens and gather eggs. The front door lifts and has a stay to keep it open during the day for easy access for the chickens. This is a rare June 20th. 1910 program(playbill) for performances at HAMMERSTEIN'S ROOF GARDEN and VICTORIA THEATRE OF VARIETIES at 42nd Street and Broadway in New York City. The vaudeville bill included EDDIE CANTOR in one of his earliest professional stage appearances(third scanned image) Biographical Background: EDDIE CANTOR(1892– 1964) born Edward Israel Iskowitz, was an American" illustrated song" performer. Comedian, dancer. Singer. Actor and songwriter. By his early teens Cantor began winning talent contests at local theaters and started appearing on stage. One of his earliest paying jobs was doubling as a waiter and performer. Singing for tips at Carey Walsh's Coney Island saloon. Where a young Jimmy Durante accompanied him on piano. Cantor made the big time in 1910 when he was hired by the juggling team of Bedini ... moreand Arthur to join them at Hammerstein’s Victoria. At first. Cantor was little more than a glorified assistant, never on stage, just fetching things for Bedini. After he passed this test for a few weeks, he was given a walk-on part in the show. His job was simply to walk across the stage and hand a plate to Bedini. Yet somehow Cantor managed to get a laugh even at this, walking on with an“attitude. Bedini, the boss of the act gradually expanded his part with spoken lines, bits of business and even juggling. Essentially Cantor and Arthur were Bedini’s stooges, black-face servants, who supported the master juggler who was the star of the act. In 1912. He was the only performer over the age of 20 to appear in Gus Edwards's Kid Kabaret. Where he created his first blackface character. Jefferson. Also in the cast of the Kid Kabaret was a young George Jessel. With whom Cantor became lifetime friends. They worked the Orpheum Circuit in 1913, where Cantor first met Will Rogers. Another lifelong friend. Rogers took to Cantor and mentored him, even recommending him to his agent, the powerful Max Hart, who began to represent him. He later toured with Al Lee as the team"Cantor&

Library of Congress Limited Edition Ornament Crafted in America 1997 It was a limited series of 10.000- this is number 1591 The original box is with it. Along with the informational pamphlet. The roof of the Library of Congress was replaced in 1996. The copper that was used in the making of the ornament was the original copper from the roof of the Library of Congress Circa 1897. The quote highlighted in the ornament can be found in the South Corridor of the Great Hall. It reads"Beneath the rule of men entirely great. The pen is mightier than the sword. It is used and in good condition. It is cast aluminum,overall length is 15"6" tall overall,and 5" wide at the front. I have no idea who the manufacturer was,but it is definitely not a homemade piece.
