Somehow how it measures the coating thickness by how long the magnet holds the object. No idea if it needs calibrated or what the 2 spare metal pcs(fat& short/long slender) are used for. Those 2 pieces slide into the long box's holes. I did place a small metal split ring on it and the magnet held onto it until the dial was about fully turned. Then it fell of. So I assume it works, not much to them. Probably needs calibrated. Condition: its used. Dial turns freely, magnet holds, height adjustment goes up/down, base plate is scratched from metal sliding across it, case is nice, case does have a slight storage smell but not from smoke. No idea its age There is no manual but there is tons of info at their site that may be usefull. It is very heavy for its size. Package weight is 15-16lbs.
