I am offering a very nice Anton(OCD) Office of Civil Defense Geiger Counter w/ wand type sensor with a reach of about 42” It has the“CD” sticker under the certificate of calibration, which is dated 1986. It comes with a nice looking headset that has the screw-type connector and about 36” lead wire. I have no batteries to test this item, however, it actually appears to have never had batteries installed even though it may have to have had them to be calibrated at least once. Very clean throughout with no damage other than very minor paint chips on wear points. The manual with it is# FG-E-5.9, April 1963. It has 41 numbered pages in VGC and seem to be tightly stapled, but the cover has some scuffing, especially on the spine and the staples are rusty. Please see pics and ask questions before you bid. This No reserve auction is for a Detectron Model G-7 or DG-7. Detectron manufactured radiation and geiger counters in the late 40's and 50's in Hollywood. California. I say Model G-7 because that is what the face says. I believe that one of the letters has been rubbed off over the years because my research does not show a Model G-7 in their catalog. Eberline scaler project Geiger counter radiation detector scintillation
This is an incomplete Eberline BC-4 beta scaler/ counter missing the sample drawer. Pancake detector, top cover, and one rear rubber foot. I set this aside for a future project and never got a round tuit the scaler part seems to work but the far left digit is not lighting but counts ok. I tacked on a power cable and fed it out a hole in the back not having an older cord to fit also a BNC connector on front to connect an external probe. I am including five extra led readout digits that I put aside for it. There is also a fixed regulated 900 volt power supply included which does work ok. This is a fix up or parts experiment as is unit.

There is also a barcode reader that allows the user to log the reading at set locations. I have not used this barcode reader so it's functionality is unknown. The back-light works perfectly. There is also an alarm feature that allows the user to set a specific limit that the detector will alarm out at to alert the user. Which also works. There is a sliding shield that allows the user to choose between whether gamma only or gamma+beta particles will be detected. This shield can be seen in the photos opened and closed. Victoreen Thyac IV Model 290 Geiger Counter
This Victoreen Model 290 is in almost mint condition. These were manufactured in the early 1990's. So it is quite a modern geiger counter. Serial Number is 2282. This instrument does not come with a probe, but will accommodate any probe with an NHV connector. It comes calibrated for all Victoreen probes, which are selected by an internal rotary switch. A manual for the instrument comes on disc.

Convenient, hand-held Geiger counter with which you can check for suspected radioactive elements. These elements include the well-known alpha, beta, and gamma rays, as well as other isotopes not as well known. For example, radium-dial watches can cause this instrument to react, as well as the small amounts of the materials used in some smoke-detection devices. Many old ceramic water containers also contained radio-active elements thought to improve circulation and health at the time. Some of these antiques can be quite'hot' and should be considered harmfull. This Radiation Monitor is of sufficient accuracy to warn you that low levels of radiation do exist. Although not indicated on the instrument. It was designated by the company as the Model 2302. This is an inexpensive instrument aimed at the amateur prospector. Someone who wanted to become rich but didn't want to spent a lot of money to do so. There is no meter to display the data. The radiation levels were indicated via the headphones and a small neon light on the top of the case(not shown) The only control is an on/off switch. The cover for the case snaps on- there are no screws to deal with. The GM tube is located inside the case at the bottom. As can be seen in the photo. There is a thin plastic window over the tube to provide some sensitivity ... moreto beta particles. A product description from a 1950 issue of Nucleonics reads as follows: Utilizing a neon lamp and earphones for count indications. The"Super Sniffer" is designed for use in prospecting. Eberline PIC-6B Portable Ion Chamber super wide range BETA. GAMMA, X-RAY radiation detector. You may have an ultra sensitive scintillation detector good for testing household items. Food, water, and property but in case of an event they will be saturated and useless. You should have both one for high sensitivity for food and water and one that will not saturate and provide you with accurate reading for life threatening situations so you know when- to evacuate and which direction to go to safety. Anything above 5-10 Roentgins would be cause to seek shelter as soon as possible and higher readings would be way more urgent. A normal Geiger counter or scintillation instrument would probably be saturated and useless under the conditions that would be present after a nuclear event. This is my choice for an affordable late model super wide range ... moreinstrument I would not trust one of those old civil defense instruments to function properly when it- comes to life or death situations. This is a simple to operate instrument with two ranges 0-1.000 mR/hr and 0-1,000 R/hr with an easy to read logarithmic dial and no zero adjust to fiddle with it is- Auto zeroing just turn it to battery to check status select range and allow 15-20 seconds to auto zero and it is ready to start detection. This instrument along with mine was checked on an X-RAY calibration stand at a local university and found to be better than factory +- 10% recommendations. On low range mR/hr is sensitive enough to indicate normal background radiation and tested with a natural uranium sample as shown in photos 6/7 you can see the sample is showing 7 mR/hr combined BETA GAMMA at the window that has a closable BETA shield. You can also see in photo 6 with just the proximity of the ore sample it is already showing 1 mR/hr. The detector is an LND pressurized ion tube fitted into a thick walled lead tube that gives it the energy compensation required for accurate wide energy radiation readings.
