This auction is for a vintage Fiesta 9 1/2 inch dish presented in the Radioactive Red color. Made by the Homer Laughlin Company. The dishes get their unique color by using naturally occurring Uranium compounds in the glaze.the result is a bright orange color as well as some residual radio-activity. This dish can be used as a geiger check source to allow safe checking and operations of a Geiger counter or Scintillator system. Measuring the activity on a calibrated CDV-700 Geiger Counter using a pancake style probe, the total activity was at or above 29 KCPM combined alpha/beta/gamma. The majority of activity is in the form of Beta with a small Alpha component and a very small gamma count. This particular dish is about average in activity for FiestaWare items and dishes, which usually read right around 27-29K. Pancake probes are more sensitive ... morethan a standard"Pickle" or"Hot Dog" style of probe, so your readings could be more or less than the readings I found, depending on the sensitivity of your probe. NaI Sodium Iodide Radiation Detector with Powered PMT Base 1.5" Crystal
Hi. Up for auction is a 1.5" x 1.5" sodium iodide gamma detector. It was pulled from a working system. The base for the photomultiplier tube contains a high voltage power supply. I could not find the exact model on the ET Enterprises website but you should be able to message them with the part number if you want the specification sheet. That would be advisable so will know what wires do what. Typically bases like this have a positive power. Ground, and a voltage control wire to control the high voltage. The signal output is on the small length of coax. ET Enterprises HV PMT base: Model P38CWS12 Crystal is a Scionix Holland 1.5 x 1.5 inch sodium iodide crystal. This is very sensitive to gamma rays.
