This is a vintage Porter Cable door hinge jig/template device. Looks to be very comeplete and well cared for. Has a secret compartment with hinge spacers. I believe everything is here(except the router obviously) The wooden case is beautiful. Made for this tool specifically. It has brass hinges, loops and corner protectors. The whole thing is functional. Yet a work of art. There is some possible water staining on the case and the leather handle is detached on one side. It is heavy so shipping will reflect that. Porter Cable Porta Plane planer, router, sharpener, hinge butt template
This is an older. But working, door hanging kit. The planer itself starts without hesitation, but the cord should be replaced for safety as it's old and cracked. The HSS cutter on the planer has some life left, but will need to be sharpened. There is a second cutter which appears to be carbide. Included. It has quite a bit of life on it. The coating may be because it is new or it may be from a professional sharpening surface. It also may have been dulled from being jostled around as the coating is giving way. I don't see any chips, though. The D-handle router. Model 150, also starts without hesitation. It's so cool looking that I was tempted to keep it, but it would be a shame to break up the kit. It has a 1/4" collet. The cutter grinder attachment appears to be complete. But I make no warranties about this. If there is some ... morepart you do not see, it probably isn't in the kit. Note that the cutter grinder is designed to sharpen only the HSS cutters, not the carbide cutters. The grinder's value is that it allows you to work with and sharpen the steel cutters while the more expensive carbide ones are being professionally sharpened. The hinge butt template kit is probably not complete. It has the 3 main components and two rods. But it looks like a few of the small hex set screws are missing and also a couple of the positioning pins are gone. The screws would be easy to replace. I don't know about the pins. I think it is usable without them as the next generation used only two pins per template. Again, if you do not see something, it probably isn't in the case. The case itself is in decent condition. Though one latch is a bit bent and missing the steel loop clasp. A piece of coat hanger would probably work ok. There are a couple of small 1/8" diameter holes on the back. Everything will fit in the case. Though I can't seem to figure out how to put the templates where they belong and get the planer to fit. I have for auction this Nice. Barely used, well maintained porter cable power planer door hanging kit. The plane is nice. It runs smooth. The sole is clean. There is no signs of heavy wear to the tool. The electrical cord is in fine used condition. The blade/cutter is free from any chips. There is some wood gum up on the cutter. There is dust and some minor grime in a few areas, but otherwise a great barely used tool. It comes with the 3 hinge template that appears to be complete. all the locking screws are inside the plastic bag. There are also 3 4' jamb gauges and a Stanley but hinge gauge. It also comes with the instruction booklets for the plane and hinge template. Rockwell(became Porter Cable) model 59380/59381 hinge butt template kit for use with a router to cut the hinge mortises on doors and jambs. This was an estate sale acquisition and is offered in as found condition. According to the included instructions this hinge butt template will accomadate 2 to 4 hinges on 6 to 9 foot doors. I did a brief inventory of this kit and I think it's complete except for 1 stop pin and 1 nail(800629) My other concern is the adjusting channels. There are three 859647(for 4 hinge 7-8 ft. doors. Three 858554(for 4 hinge 8-9 ft. door) and four 858562(3 hinge 6-7 ft. doors) The potential problem here is(I think) you would only need two of the 858562 and there should probably be two others. The steel case is very solid, but it has significant scars(including rust, paint over spray and dents) from years of handling. ... moreIt will still serve its intended purpose for years to come. In doing a bit of internet research it appears this kit is identical to it's Porter Cable counter part and it appears parts are readily available.
