Hardy classic glass fiber rod circa 1973 designed by the famed John E. Tarantino for Hardy. The rod is 7' long. 2 piece, and is rated for a 4 weight line as inscribed on the rod. This rod has been in the possession of the original owner since 1973 and comes complete with the original blue cloth rod bag with Hardy logo and a new aluminum rod case. The rod features an original Hardy aluminum cap and ring reel seat with diagonal knurling on the slide band and the Hardy logo roll stamped on the formed pocketed butt cap. The blank color is a rich brown with burnt orange wraps and brown tipping. The original owner's name is inscribed(small) in white ink on the rod blank. The stripping guide is in a classic soldered frame of the period with ceramic ring. The snake guides are hard chrome in the traditional"reverse" English twist. ... moreThe rod features high strength traditional"spigot" ferrules. The blank is constructed using high strength S- glass fiber but the action is soft and nearly identical to that found on many bamboo rods of this length which was Hardy's design objective for this rod as at the time bamboo was the standard material of choice. At the time, John E. Tarantino was considered the world's best fly caster and as such was used as by Hardy as the designer of this series of rods. A limited quantity of these rods were made and very few remain in existence. They are very collectable but are at the same time very usable as a fly fishing rod today for delicate fly presentation to wary trout.

SUPERB HARDY JET 6 9FT FIBRE-TUBE FLY ROD c1972+ HARDY VISCOUNT 130 FLY REEL
SUPERB HARDY“JET” 9FT Wt#6 FIBRE TUBE TROUT FLY ROD Exquisite 2-piece rod with blue Hardy bag AND Hardy 3¼" Viscount 130 fly reel + case WITH Full length Wt#6F fly line A complete Hardy package with which you could literally walk straight down to the water's edge and start fishing. The JET 6 is a great 2-piece lake/reservoir trout fly rod from Hardy Brothers of Alnwick. England being 9ft(275cm) in length and in great condition. Please see my photos. It casts a weight#6 line and is made from Hardy's Fibre-Tube and dates from 1972- the letters H/O scripted on the fibre-tube indicates this date. To compliment this super rod I have included a Hardy Viscount 130- 3.25" fly reel(with case) which is loaded with a floating Wt#6 fly line(it being of a light blue colour is probably Air-Cel) The rod casts the line magnificently ... moreand balances perfectly. All the rings. On the rod, are intact and show little or no wear or grooving with the spigot join giving a perfectly tight fit with no slackness and is connected by lining the figure 68 up on both sections- this aligns all the rings correctly. All the rings, with the exception of the first one, are made of(I think) tungsten and are snake eyes. The first ring is a small round ring with a ceramic insert. The original orange whippings are all immaculate and I can recall there being the same colour as my Hardy Jet 6 rod from the early 1970s. So can positively say they are original. The Hardy reel seating is threaded and of a light alloy with a little bit of tarnishing while the corks are immaculate. Which is a bit of a surprise, as the original plastic cover has not been removed which would usually cause some sweating of the corks- but none whatsoever is evident. I would, however, suggest that the lucky winner of this super rod& reel package remove the covering and let the corks breathe. As far as the Hardy Viscount 130 reel is concerned it is in excellent working condition and dates from the 1940/50s. It has a sliding centre latch. For removing the spoo
