Vintage Nautical Wooden Snatch Block w/Brass Swivel Hook/Lewmar?/NR
This is a vintage Nautical Wooden Snatch Block with a Brass Swivel Hook and Copper Pivots from an estate in Green Valley. AZ. I believe this to be an unusual piece of nautical hardware as I was unable to identify it online and the only blocks that come close are the early Lewmar's. Even those have a different shape to the block and what appear to be chromed hardware. One thing they have in common is the phenolic(Micarta) sheave. The sheave width is 3/4" overall with a diameter of 1.5" Overall length is 6 3/4" The white metal side straps are probably white brass as they're non-ferrous. The swivel base and clasp may also be copper as their patina is different from the brass hook above. The hook is opened by pulling on the spring-loaded pin. The only markings on the block are a"2" on one side and what appears ... moreto be a scrimmed sailboat on the other(see pics) Overall condition is very good. 8" Single Sheave Snatch Block Pulley Wire Rope Swivel Hook w/quick release
This is an old pulley that I used to pull wires with a rope. I have had it since Moby Dick was a minnow. I don't plan on ever using it again. The safety latch is bad and needs to be replaced. The pulley spins free. It is a little rusty. But it has been stored inside for the most part. The hook and pulley bearings seem to be fine. It has a quick release. for pulling electric cables that's almost a necessity. The pulley diameter across the center is 8" this should be about 3 tons. Let me know if you need more measurements.

DRH Johnson? Crane Snatch Block (and tackle?) 8" Pulley 1" Rope Line 10-14 ton?
Up for auction is this vintage snatch block. I can make out"on" on it but nothing else. That leads me to believe it may be a DRH Johnson. I found it in a garage I bought. It was one of several mounted to an I-beam overhead and had a sign saying"Max. Safe Operating Capacity 10 Tons(20.000 lbs. I don't know if that is the actual rating of this piece though. I would have to assume that the rig would be labeled for the weakest component so I would also assume that this is 10 tons or more. The smallest one had a 6" pulley so I'm assuming that would be the one rated at 10 tons and this should be significantly more. It's about 20" from tip of the hook to the bottom of the pulley. The pulley is about 8 inches in diameter and looks like it had a 1" diameter cable. It's a little filthy and has some surface ... morerust but the hook swivels and the pulley rotates freely. Please note: Item will be partially disassembled in order to fit in a flat rate priority box in order to save you money as well as reach you in a lot less time. No reserve so bid to win! A heavy. Steel about 4” sheave, snatch block. Sheave roller has room for a 3/4" line. Is a very rugged unit which has been in use over the recent past. It was in the assets of a NASA contractor that closed due to contract draw downs. It looks rugged and really is. The contractor was required to meet precise spec requirements, and this certainly did. Hinged frame mount allows quick opening for insertion of line. Locks immediately when pulled rather than having to insert a cotter pin. Hinge open freely, oval attachment is forged steel and also swivels nicely. All othe hinged parts work freely. This is the grand daddy of small snatch blocks and is a heavy duty one. Weighs about 10 pounds. Is tough and ugly and has just been oiled. There is no reserve, high bidder will definitely get it no matter what it is. Sticker on the block states all the appropiate specs. It is heavy(83lbs) and doesn't appear to have any use. I bought it for firewood hauling but realized it is was a little over kill. I had it shipped to me and it was expensive. I can arrange shipping but it would be spendy. I checked at UPS and to NH from Idaho it would be approximately 100.00 at 83 lbs. Recommend local sale.
