They were formed to look like an Old English font. All the letters measure 8" tall except for the letter"k" which measures 10-1/2" tall. You can see the back of the letters in Pic#5. English Stoneware Puzzle or Tavern Jug w/ Multiple Spouts, Sprigged Decorations
A glazed. Two-tone Puzzle Jug, unmarked but likely English; the applied sprigs around the midsection are consistent with those from the Doulton Lambeth pottery. There are five scenes; three depicting drinking and general merriment, a windmill and a tree. Both neck and rim are symmetrically pieced with geometric shapes, with an additional scalloped edge profile on the upper lip(see close-up) One of the four perimeter spouts is missing; otherwise in excellent overall condition with a few minor imperfections created at the time of manufacture and general wear on the base. The bottle appears to be a quart size whiskey bottle.It has a glass top with cork.Embossed on the bottom of the bottle is D-8.Below that is 6452.It also has some kind of logo mark beside the number.The only problem I can find with the bottle is the cork is stuck to the glass.Otherwise the bottle is in excellent condition.

The paper booklet is"A Sketch of Fraunces Tavern and Those Connected with Its History" Fraunces Tavern. Which was erected in 1719 and is purported to be the oldest building in New York City, has been owned by the Sons of the Revolution. New York State since 1904 It is now a tourist sight and is part of what is known as the American Whiskey Trail and also the New York Freedom Trail. The booklet was first copyrighted in 1919 by Henry Russell Drowne On the cover is written in ink April 6. 1965 which I believe is when my friend acquired it. The only mark inside is an underlining of a date. April 6, 1789 on page 25 which was Washington's ... moreinauguration date; this seems to have been significant to my friend whose birthday was April 6. 1894 The booklet is in good condition. There are 35 intact numbered pages with 12 illustrations including a map of NYC. The booklet measures 5.25 inches by 7.85 inches. The pamphlet is titled"Sons of the American Revolution in the State of New York" and is about the tavern with 4 additional illustrations. It contains quotes from a Tallmadge diary on Washington's farewell and a poem by J.E.Kelly The pamphlet has been folded and is worn at the fold. It is 5.25 inches by 8 inches.
