This is a beautiful pressed glass decanter for Old Kentucky Tavern Whiskey. Obviously it is empty. I believe this is from the Owens Illinois Glass Company. There is a capital"I" in a circle on the bottom. It has complete front and back labels. Diamond point design around the bottom and shoulder of the decanter and is carried on to the glass stopper. The center of the decanter has a four recessed rib design. 11 inches tall to the top of the stopper. Perfect condition. No chips. Nicks or scratches. Vintage Harvey Wallbanger POP Advertising Poster for Galliano Liquor. This poster was from the early 60's in Chicago. To be more precise it was from a"Tavern" not a bar. Not a lounge. a"Tavern" on Clybourn Avenue(North Side of Chicago) It sat on top of the long refrigerator case/cash register area. This spot where the poster sat was as far as a kid could go into the tavern before someone yelled at you to get up front. They sold"cold" soda like strawberry& orange Old Dutch and nickle bags of Jays potato chips. The beer had permeated the floor over the years and it had a distinctive tavern smell. Not a bad smell, but a unique one. This is a unique and rare piece of advertising approx 50 years old. The condition is not extremely good. There are holes and bends as well as damage to the edges. Exact age unknown. Appears to be 1890s-1940s. The milk glass at the top is custom-made with the lettering etched into the glass. It is inset into the glass surface so even if the black were gone. It still says"Black-A-Moor Head" The wood frame is covered in metal to protect it from the elements. The old paint on the wood is intact and looks wonderful upon close inspection. The red surfce of th the magnet on the good side might be a thin sheet of metal. That is missing on the worn side. The metal is wrought iron. Hand forged. One side is in Very Good original condition. Size. 8-1/4" high to top of the stopper.Notice the three areas that are etched, one area shows a sign post, and that sign has a walking bear on it, the next etched area shows two men sitting at a table, two drinks on the table, and one man is smoking a pipe, the last etched area shows a waiter walking toward the seated men, the waiter is bring a bottle and two glasses. Perhaps the tavern had Bear in its name, such as Walking Bear, or Big Bear, etc. Condition, theres an area near the base that has a rough section, I think it would buff out, and a small ring stain on the interior bottom. This table is item#12-8000 in the Old Tavern finish and can be found on page#367 of the 80th edition Ethan Allen Treasury of American Traditional Interiors catalog. The Antiqued Pine collection is discontinued with Ethan Allen and was made of"solid pine in the Old Tavern finish-skillfully shaded and hand-distressed to achieve an authentic'aged' look" According to the Treasury catalog. This table measures 54" wide x 22" deep x 17" high and is in overall excellent, sturdy condition. As with all pine of this age, there are numerous scratches on the top surface and dings on some areas of the feet(see pics#8,9,10) The table has been factory distressed so I don't believe the scratches detract from the beauty of the ... morefinish. I was told that this is an 18th century William and Mary Tavern Table with stretcher base. Two drawers, and a removable top. It has a beautiful finish(I tried to provide pictures that show natural light and flash. The table measures approximately 61" long x 27 1/2" tall x 31 1/2" deep. Each drawer measures approximately 21 1/2" deep x 20" wide(the inside) There are some scratches and chips to the wood in a few places. I tried to take multiple pictures to show the condition. This great early American 18th century tavern table is one of three pieces from a local Massachusetts home. All which were in original untouched condition. All we have done to this table due to the years of grime were to lightly clean and oil it. It has a 1 board pine oval top on a splay leg maple/cherry(not sure) base. All peg construction. The pegs on the stretcher are exposed and beautifully intact. The top and base are guaranteed original to each other and not married pieces. The top has a lovely rich patina and signs of character from years of use. There are random marks along the edges of both sides due to sewing birds being attached to the table. The table top measures 36" long and 27" wide. It is 24 3/4" tall. The legs are positioned 21 3/4" x 16 1/2" apart to the outside of each leg. This plate was designed exclusively as the restaurant ware for Fred Harvey's Toy Town Tavern at the 1933 Century of Progress World's Fair in Chicago. Toy Town Tavern existed only during the 1933-34 run of the World's Fair in Chicago. Fred Harvey was known for developing a chain of restaurants and hotels along the Santa Fe passenger Railroad. Harvey also operated dining car service for the Santa Fe and other railways including the Atchison. Topeka and Santa Fe. Any piece of Toy Town Tavern restaurantware is extremely ... morerare. CONDITION: The plate does show some wear d ue to use. There are scratches on the face surface from silverware but the illustrations are in very good condition. There are two chips in the plate. Only one of the chips is visible from the front of the plate and involves part of the yellow trim. Each of the two chips are less than 1/2" in diameter. A quality porcelain restorer would be able to repair these chips. I have attached photos of the chips. I have not attempted to clean this item. T his item is sold in"as is" condition. Antique Anheuser Busch Tavern Beer Sign 1890 Painted Wood Americana Breweriana
What can we say but wow one of the most incredible pieces of Breweriana we have ever seen. This is an incredible Anheuser Busch Tavern trade sign from 1890. The sign is painted on hand planed boards that are tongue and grove joined. There are 11 boards. Each one hand made to make this sign. The sign is hand painted for a beer and liquor distributor and seller in Manchester, New Hampshire. The distributor was a liquor dealer and bottler in business in the late 1800's well into the 1900's. This sign hung outside their place of business probably until prohibition. The Joseph G. Plante& Co. switched to selling grocery items during prohibition and the sign was tucked away in the store attic. That is where it was found recently. The logo was used by Anheuser Busch from 1890 to 1920 according to their company web site. There are a couple ... moreof very interesting things about this sign. The name across the top"Joseph G. Plante& Co. is actually painted over another name. Which means that there was another owner prior to Plante. This is an interesting fact as it means the sign is actually older than the Plante Co. We think that the sign painter signature at the bottom is the person that over-painted the original owners name. Interesting that New Hampshire began prohibition in 1917. Consequently this sign was more than likely removed and packed away in that year. New Hampshire has a long history of brewing. Though the recent microbrewing movement has been somewhat slower to catch on here than in neighboring states. 2] There is evidence of brewing at. Now. As early as 1635, with most beer being brewed at taverns for the next two centuries. Despite Portsmouth's waning overall importance in the state, the Brewery was the dominant brewery from its inception in 1859 until New Hampshire began in 1917. Three matching Victorian tavern rummers with gadget tool marks to the base. They measure approximately 5.1/4 ins high and 2.3/4 ins across the top. They have the usual enclosed air bubbles and striation marks but are in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
