Description This rare and very fine serving set was made in Berlin by German Jeweler( Jewelier) Theodor Rudolph My first thought was that this set was made for the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics. After considering the lack of Olympic Rings(first debuted at the 1920 Olympic games in Antwerp) and the age and style of the case. It is more likely this set was made for the 1916 Olympic Games that were scheduled to be held in Berlin but eventually cancelled due to WWI. A beautiful set full of history! Superb Victorian Staffordshire Flow Blue Meat Plate Platter-c.1900
Hello and thanks for looking. This auction is for a lovely meat plate or platter. Made in Staffordshire, in a flow blue transfer-printed pattern and probably dating from c.1890/1900. The plate is of a typical oval form with dished centre and sloping moulded sides, it is decorated with a transfer-printed flow-blue floral pattern to the rim and centre, the edges being moulded with an Art Nouveau floral design. In all a really great piece of Victorian flow blue pottery! It measures 16" long and 11 1/4" wide. It is marked to the rear with a blue printed backstamp a crowned Staffordshire knot with"GENEVA SEMI PORCELAIN" above and"NEW WHARF POTTERY ENGLAND F.P. below. It has a bit of rubbing to the body, otherwise in good condition with no damage or restoration. Happy bidding!

Large 20+" Silverplate Meat Cover by Martin Hall & Co. Sheffield - Coat of Arms
Up for auction is this stunning meat cover. It was manufactured in England by Martin Hall& Co. In Sheffield. Martin Hall& Co was one of the premier British manufacturers and is well known for its quality electroplate pieces, as can be seen in this cover. This Company was in business from 1820-1936. Over the years, the company underwent a number of name changes. The mark on this piece dates it sometime between 1854 and 1866. This cover has amazing detail. In an oval on the front of the lid is a coat of arms or family crest. This can be seen in the photos. It has a stag head at the top. Just below the stag is a knight's helmet. There is also a sun. And 3 horns. At the base it reads"justum perficito nihil timeto" The coat of arms is surrounded with leaf type shapes. On each side of the oval is a letter X in horizontal lines. ... moreOn the top of each of the X shapes is a floral pattern. There are also thin swags draping down along the bottom of this area. With the exception of the coat of arms(which is only found on the front) this same design is also found on the back of the cover, and on both ends. But in these other 3 areas, the oval is empty. There is a greek key design running around the lid, toward the bottom. It measures about 7/8" high. At the base of the handle is another leaf type design, with bead and wave looking details. The handle is comprised of a number of beads of varying sizes. The base of this lid as also notched. Words do not describe this amazing attention to detail. This cover is very large in size. It measures 20.5" long. 15.75" wide and is about 8.25" high without the handle(nearly 12" with the handle) It is in excellent condition(as you can see in the photos) It is hallmarked on the end. I have also included a photo of the mark taken from a book of English Silverplate marks.

CLICK on the thumbnail photos above to enlarge for better detail For your consideration is a rare Monumental Early English Sterling Silver Tray and Meat Dome by S.C. Younge Co. It is a stunning piece which cleary resurrects the opulent lifestyle of King George III's Regency England in the early 19th century. The beautiful trim around the edges is only over shadowed by the beauty of the Dome's handle. The tray is Sterling and the Dome is Silver Plate. The tray is clearly marked with the S.C. Younge Co. Sheffield Hallmark for 1811. The Dome is marked with CG in a square. The tray has been proffessionaly polished. Though there are still very light remnants of wear on the top and outer underside of the edge. The bottom of the tray has also been been polished though not to the same degree and shows a bit more wear. The Dome has some wear ... morethroughout consitent with age and use and appears to have areas of lighter shades to the silver along with what appear to be very light rippling which is more visible on one side. One area of the lighter shape is in the shape of a rectangle and the other area is more random. What makes this piece more rare is that it is seldom one finds the tray and dome together, and in this condition. These detailed descriptions certainly do not detract from the general aesthetics or functionality of the piece and are only mentioned for accuracy. One may say it has weathered the many years extremely well and is in very good condition for its age. The tray weighs approximately on our postal scale 85.8 Ounces or 78 Troy ounces. The silver-plated dome weighs approximately 104 regular ounces. This beautiful sterling meat serving fork was made by Whiting in the Louis XV pattern and is in good ESTATE condition with a crisp pattern. The tines have been buffed and polished and the handle show light wear due to age and normal use. The fork measures 6 3/8" in length and is MONOGRAMMED with HIL( on the front of the handle.
