Vintage Sears Electric Wood Wooden Ice Cream Maker Freezer 5 Quart 1978
Nice size 5 quart wood tub ice cream freezer by Sears. Model no. 1985. Original receipt show purchase in 4/78 for $29.99. Tested and works great. The inside of wood bucket is faded from the ice and salt used previously. The wire on the outside of bucket holding it together has some corrosion. The interior of the metal ice cream container has some small scratches which have rusted a bit since it's been sitting. I would think a scrubbie or magic eraser would take it right off. This freezer has an automatic reset device, which will protect the motor when it naturally stops at the end of it's running time of 20-30 minutes. Makes 2.5 quarts. Instructions and recipes included. Up for sale is this nice clean vintage' WHITE MOUNTAIN ICE CREAM FREEZER' It is pre owned and has been used but really nice clean condition with a great old patina. It is a handy 1 gallon hand crank freezer with a wood bucket. I opened the gearbox to make sure there were no worn or broke gears and added fresh grease. It has very little to no signs of wear inside the gear case and cranks very smooth. The wood bucket is solid. There is some rust on the exposed metal as you would expect and ageing of the finish on wood and metal. Nothing broke. Freezer measures 20" tall fully assembled with motor on and 11 1/2" wide. Bucket alone measures 13" tall. The box that the freezer comes in is a White Mountain Box and I believe it is the original. But the model number on it is 79204. Shipping date on the box is 1995. The freezer appears to be more"vintage" than that to me, but these machines were made to look vintage, so it's really hard to say for sure. Either way. There are no markings on any part of this set. As I said the nearest brand I can come up with is UDICO. I have also seen these shaped parts used on Dolly Madison freezers. Please look at the star drive on the lid and the flat tab drive on the dasher. I do believe that the can would fit and work on a White Mountain but don't think the lid and dasher would work. Look closely at the picture and see if they can fit into your freezer. If you can use these they will be a steal for an eight quart freezer. The can is 6-1/2" in diameter and 11-3/4" tall. Oh my goodness I remember as a kid churning the ice cream freezer in the summer time. This one is in pretty good shape except it is missing the metal band in the center. It is very sound not wonkie(my word for wiggle) at all. The handle turns just fine oh and I did notice that the hook that holds it down is stuck. A little WD-40 would probably do the trick.
