Amazing piece of Chinese Light Celadon Nephrite Jade Li Dragon Bi Carving. The piece is carved on one side only.the other side is smooth. This piece of jade is in wonderful condition with no clouding. Inclusions or fissures. The jade has wonderful translucency. The carving weighs 55 grams with a specific gravity of 2.89. It measures 2 1/32" 51.59mm) across and is 7/16" 11.11mm) thick. The jade is very smooth and very greasy feeling. The carving is of a Li Dragon wrapped around the bi with a sprig of Lingzhi in it's mouth. Please look at all of the pictures carefully and have a ruler handy so you can understand the measurements. H C Dobson 5 string banjo - late 1880's early 1890's with "donut" tone ring
H.C. Dobson 5 string open back banjo for auction. Dates from the late 1880's or very early 1890's- last patent date is 1887. The banjo has patent stamps in two places on the tone ring. Both sides of the fingerboard extension, and the tailpiece, as well as Dobson logo stamp and patent info stamped into the dowel stick(dowel stampings are faint but legible on the stick) This is a somewhat unusual Dobson because it has a one piece steam bent maple rim and separate"donut" tone ring- it's the only one I've seen that doesn't have a spunover rim. The rim is finished in black with a nice turned bead on the outside bottom edge. The tone ring has two old stress cracks that appear to have been silver soldered at some point long ago. The neck looks like walnut with star and dot inlays and matching star on heel cap. A very ... moresmall piece of the veneer fingerboard is missing near the 5th. string nut but doesn't affect function. There is an old repaired crack on the tailpiece end of the dowel stick and some file marks on the neck end(it looks like there may have been a number stamped but I can't make it out) There is overall wear typical to an instrument this old- scratches, dings etc. I've cleaned it a bit but not polished it and it retains a nice original patina. All the hardware is original except for the tuners which are probably from the early 1900's. It has an old Ludwig skin head and is currently set up with nylgut strings. Rim diameter is 10-7/8" scale length is 25-1/2" The neck has a bit of forward bow but plays fine- has a nice sound for clawhammer or classical 3-finger style playing. Auction is for the banjo only- no case, but I will double box it and pack very securely. This is a really nice original vintage Western Electric Donut phone. Yellow, rotary dial telephone from the 1970's. It is all original and in very good clean condition with a few normal minor nicks and light minor scratches but overall attractive, clean and nicer than most. There is a minor crack on the cracks or breaks. Very nice example. Finish is clean and glossy(please note that there is some glare and reflection in some of the photos but there is no actual discoloration on the phone) Phone has been fully tested and works great. I noticed that it can be shined to a polished stainless finish(for show) but that's up to you. Used for cutting yeast-raised donuts rolls, biscuits and bismarks. Made to be used by hand or machine. By hand, simply roll out your dough as you would if cut by hand, grab the cutter on both sides and with evenly applied pressure, roll the cutter over the dough.
