Manual 2 lb Coffee Roaster Stainless Steel
This is a manual hand cranked coffee roaster styled after the big commercial jobs and designed for use on a BBQ grill warmer burner or a portable camp stove or other compact single burner heat source. Originally suggested as a stove top roaster. But I wouldn't recommend that unless you have a super powerful exhaust system, because of the smoke. Features a stainless drum, stainless housing and funnel, tubular steel frame, ball bearing shaft, gravity sealed dump door, in process sample port, wire bottom cooling tray, and chaff tray. Up to two pound capacity. Took about 15 minutes to roast the coffee shown in the picture(which was probably 2 minutes too long-second crack caught me by surprise) on single gas burner set at medium heat. 3 lb all electric coffee roaster. Very low hours. Around 15 hours total use on the machine. I paid $1400 for the roaster including the extras. This is a fantastic roaster for someone that doesn't have $5-10K to spend on a full on pro roaster. It uses halogen lights as well as a ceramic heating element. Total time from start to cool is 30 minutes. Includes roaster. Fans, cooling tray, water injection wand to stop roast, extra halogen bulbs, electronic temperature computer(needs new temp probe which is cheap) aluminum ducts. Roaster could be great for at home consumption. Friends and family, office, or even for your coffee shop. Has roasted some really delicious coffees. Only selling because I upgraded to a 6 lb gas roaster. I would rather do local pickup. But will also ship.

It is actually quite amazing the number of'models' of this type of roaster These roasters were almost always made'by hand' to order by a local metal smith. Up for your consideration is a 1250 watt Wear Ever Popcorn Pumper hot air corn popper model#73000. Good clean working condition. The black plastic on the butter dish is a little melted. But is still OK. The yellow plastic top also has a few small cracks(see pics) where it attaches to the base, but it is still very solid. It blows hot, runs smooth, and it doesn't wander around the counter top when it's plugged in like some I have seen. I actually used it to make a bowl of economically priced, all natural popcorn, and it performed flawlessely. Even still has an original tag! If you are used to cleaning your roaster every 4-8 roasts because of build-up. Then with this exhaust system, you can easily roast 16 roasts of dark roast before you need to clean your roaster. How exhaust effects roasting? Warm up time is a little faster 1-2 minutes depending on ambient temperature. When using exhaust system fan: Hottop roaster fan on at 25% with exhaust fan on is the equivalent to Hottop roaster at 50%75% without exhaust system depending on type of filter used. So you don't have to turn your fan up as high or you ... morecan turn it up higher to remove more smoke. The higher the fan speed used, the faster the bean will brown which effects roast. If Using Scotch Brite pad as filter: Replacing OEM filter with scotch brite pad using exhaust system greatly reduces smoke to remove smoky taste from bean allowing more natural bean flavor. Using Scotch Brite pad as filter effect roasting time. The most you would have to turn up Hottop fan speed would be 50% when using with exhaust fan. If Using Stainless Steel Filter: A 17 minute dark roast may take only 12 minutes. Using exhaust system with stainless steel filter. Only 25% fan speed on Hottop roaster is needed, but bean may dehydrate or brown the beans too soon depending on personal taste. Overall Review: This is very useful during colder weather to get rid of smoke during roasting in small rooms. This is a vintage Melitta AromaRoast home coffee roaster; I’ve owned it since the 1980’s and it’s been used a dozen times maximum. These are great if you are a coffee lover(I bought the larger Nesco model) while green beans have to be ordered online. They have virtually unlimited shelf lives, and there is nothing like freshly-roasted coffee. The Melitta is designed to roast enough for one brewing– which I like because you can experiment. The chaff collector works flawlessly and the whole roaster stores compactly. The measuring cup and original user’s guide are also included. Note, while there’s nothing like the aroma and taste of freshly ground coffee, roasting beans is not so pleasant– so my helpful hint to anyone who’s going to roast coffee is do it under a range hood. Even the pricy Nesco with its catalytic converter gives off an odor. ... moreHowever, a few hours after roasting(they must cool first) you can grind your beans and the flavor is truly wonderful. I do this for dinner parties– you can get decaffeinated green beans as well– and guests often go for coffee instead of espresso or cappuccino. This listing is for a vintage West Bend Poppery ll popcorn popper. It is model 82102 and has 1200 watts. Made in the USA: It works perfectly and shows normal signs of use. Super clean and ready to use. Comes from a smoke free home. This is the very desirable popper that people use to roast coffee beans. The following is how you can roast your own coffee beans. Set up the popper in a ventilated place near a kitchen exhaust fan or window. If possible. It's nice to have strong overhead light so you can look down into the popper chamber to accurately judge the roast as it progresses. Have all your supplies within reach. Put the same amount of coffee in the popper that the manufacturer recommends for popcorn. For the West Bend Poppery II. 4 oz. is the maximum, or 2/3 to 3/4 cup. Put the plastic hood(including butter dish) in place. And a large ... morebowl under the chute. We put our popper by the sink so it blows chaff right into the basin. Turn the thing on. Watch for fragrant smoke and the"first crack" of the beans in about 3 minutes. Wait another minute. Then start to monitor beans closely for desired roast color by lifting out butter dish and looking into popping chamber, or, better yet, by smelling the smoke and listening to the crackling. Total time for a lighter roast should be around 4 minutes. Full city roast around 5, and darker roasts closer to 6.5 minutes. Roasts develop quickly, so be vigilant. You want to pour the beans out of the popper when they are a tad lighter than the color you desire, since roasting continues until beans are cool. Agitate beans in metal collander with a big spoon or toss between 2 collanders until they are warm to your touch. You may need oven mitts for this. You may want to walk out to a porch to aid cooling. Coffee should be stored out of direct light(and not in a fridge or freezer) in an airtight glass jar. But with a fresh roast, wait 12 hours to seal the jar tightly; it needs to vent off C02. Warm.
