This is an early first version Olympus OM-1. Split image focus screen. No provision for Motor Drive. I have matched it up with a later version Olympus OM-System 50mm f1.8 Zuiko in near mint condition, making this a great collectible quality OM-1! Some very slight issues, see below. Has new seals and Mirror Dampers. Replaced with lifetime Japanese foam. Light meter works, and is pretty close, no more than a stop off. Film tested, passed 100% see Digital contact Sheet. Was a joy to shoot, I shot one of these back all through the 70's! The body is in fair to good shape cosmetically. Has been used. But not abused. Baseplate has more than average wear, including a a pretty fair gouge near the battery cover, see picture 23. If you remover the Hotshoe, there is wear on the prism housing, 12. Is also missing the tiny knob from the rewind lever, ... morepicture 13. Also a barely noticeable fracture in the upper right corner of the eyepiece magnifier, 19, which does not affect the finder at all. Finder, focus screen, and mirror fairly clean. The lens is in excellent condition. Glass is clear, no haze or fungus, maybe just a bit more than average internal dust. No scratches or cleaning marks front or rear. Aperture blades stop down brilliantly, but are just noticeably slow to reopen. No oil on blades. There is one peculiar mechanical issue with the body that I have never seen before on an OM-1. Of course. The film advance is silky smooth. The shutter fires like a dream, and works at all speeds, including one full second. When the shutter is cocked, there is a gear under the baseplate that makes barely audible sound as it advances just a fraction of a second slow. I routinely remove baseplate's on 70's SLR's for an inspection, clean and lube, and have no idea why this is happening, doesn't seem to be an issue. The gear involved is pictured, 20. Since the light meter works, etc, I feel that that this OM is in more than salable/usable/collectible condition. Comes with fresh battery and body cap.
