Just why the Northwood Company decided to do this variant of Ruffles& Rings pattern is a mystery, but here they've added a classy banding of daisies along the outer edge. This beautiful bowl is embossed with Ruffles and Rings on the exterior of the bowl, while the interior ... moreis of smooth glass. The Daisy band is embossed on the interior of the rim and encased in white opalescent. This bowl has 3 feet too. This Antique Bowl is in excellent, pre-owned, condition. The two items are very similar except the sugar is more fluted(wider at the top) According to our books. The toothpick was 2 and 1/2" tall as was the individual sugar. However. The toothpick is only 2" in diameter at the top and the individual sugar is 2 and 1/2" in diameter at the top. So, this is the individual sugar, not the toothpick. However there is only 1/2" difference in the diameter at the top and if you wanted to add this to a toothpick collection, it would go well. Both the date/era and the look. This one is in perfect condition with no chips. Cracks, nor repairs. There is a"swirl" visible in the glass. This is characteristic with ... morethe glassmaking process of that era and is considered part of the character of the glass, and not considered damage. Sometimes glass companies would produce a certain number of these wares as souvineers or advertising items for other companies. This one was apparently made especially as an advertising item for Ed. Original EAPG Flint Four Petal Sugar Bowl - Circa 1850-1870 - Rings Like A Bell
Description This listing is for a beautiful flint glass jar in the Four Petal pattern. This is an original piece and not a reproduction. It is made of heavy flint glass that has an extended ring when tapped. It stands 7.5" tall to the top of the finial and has a 3.5" opening. It was originally a sugar bowl back in the day when sugar bowls were over-sized. Today it makes a great display piece. A candy dish or small compote. According to the Corning Museum's website. Where there is an example of this piece in the collection, the piece dates to 1850-1870 and possibly originates from New England. This piece has been reproduced. However you can be sure this is the original for three reasons. First. It is crystal clear heavy flint glass that has an extended ring when tapped. The repro is plain glass, not as clear or heavy, and does ... morenot ring. Second, the repro is marked with the initials of the museum that issued it. This one is unmarked. Third, the cover on the original is puffed at the top with a six sided finial, as this one has. The repro copied the steepled cover found on some early pieces, but this puffy cover was not reproduced. There are some pin-point nicks(flea-bites) on the high points of the finial and one on the body. No chips. No, nicks, no cracks, no stains. Amazing for a 140 to 160 year old piece of glass! Vintage French Toleware BLACK Metal Urn with Lion Head Ring Holders This auction is for an early to mid-century hand painted metal decorative urn with a tight fitting lid. This urn is in beautiful condition. But does have 1 very small chip on the gold paint on the lip of the urn but when the lid is one it CANNOT be seen. I have researched this urn quite a bit and it is called a"schooner shaped urn" because the urn looks like the bottom of a sail boat. The bottom of this urn is marked"Made in France"and there is a tag that I have tried gently to remove, but was not able to. It looks like a price or a stock tag number. I have seen very few of these urns and most of the rest are dented or have chunks of paint missing. As you can tell by the pictures this urn is in very clean and shows very minor use. I have seen these urns ... morein many old movies and tv shows as recepticals on fireplaces holding everything from mints and candies to cigarettes and matches.The first thing that everyone thinks of for an urn is for ashes, and if you put Grandma in this she would one hep chick! The size of the urn is 12" tall from the base to the top of the pineapple finial, and is 7" wide and 4 1/2" across.
