And painted red(original) It has definate age from being over 70 years old, but still is in overall good looking shape. Heres a Unusual Item! Its a Vintage Safety Canvas Hood used for Sand Blasting and Welding! It is made by Pulmosan! I think it is from the 50s but it could be older! The plastic shield viewer is removable for cleaning or replacing with new or tinted window for welding! The original patent was in 1916 on these things. I have seen a similar model on eBay but I believe this one to be quite a bit older as this one is different in color. With large drawstrings, PULMOSAN is stamped and it has a safety patch which reads CAUTION This hood does not provide respiratory protection. if any air supply attachment is furnished with the hood it is for comfort only. If this hood os worn in a contaminated area containing toxic dusts, gases.etc. a proper respira-tor should be worn under the hood! There are no holes or tears. VINTAGE JACKSON PRODUCTS NYLON WELDING HELMET LS&P5653A
This is an auction for a vintage Jackson Products Nylon Welding Helmet; model number LS&P5653A. I believe it was made in Belmont. Michigan in the late 1980's. The year 1989 is printed on the inside of the visor/eye shield and Belmont, Michigan is printed on a sticker on the helmet's interior. The helmet is in good used condition and has a few vintage stickers affixed to it. It adjusts to heads with a 6 1/2" to 8" circumference. It has not been used in a while but I believe it still works properly; the visor/eye shield is not cracked. The only flaws I see are that there are some minor scuff marks on the helmet and there are two tares on the plastic adjustable head strap. The head strap works but may need to be replaced at some point. Please see the attached pictures. What you see is what you get. For auction is a vintage welder's mask from the Jackson company. This is a pre-owned item which has been used so it does show signs of wear. This helmet is made of hard plastic. There are no cracks or chips. It is MISSING its head strap. One could easily fabricate their own as a replacement. I do notice that the hinges for flipping is up have apparently been worked on, one side to me looks like it has been replaced by a screw and washer and the other side looks like the original screw, HOWEVER it works excellent. The fiberglass in my opinion ... moreis actually very clean for a vintage item of this nature, does show some use but I think fair to say much less than normal, no breaks in the fiberglass that I see. If one considers it's age and the fact that it is a tool used on construction sights. In shops and garages to shield ones eyes/face from extreme heat/light and burning. Molten steel. I'd say it's condition is very good. Personally I love this helmet. The flip face is sweet. But what I like best about it is. The patina of aged fiberglass.
