VINTAGE Metro Welding Goggles in Cedar Box Steampunk EXTRA Lenses 1940's-1950's!
You're bidding on a pair of authentic. Antique welding goggles marked Metro on the metal vent caps. They come in an old cedar box marked Wizard on the hinge sides and an extra pair of clear lenses. Overall they are in nice condition with slight rust on the air vents. The original elastic headband has some wear but is still stretchy. One of the black lenses has a chip on the edge but it cannot be seen when in the goggles. There are also some tiny nicks in the lenses but they do not affect vision. The original gaskets between the lenses are in great shape. The extra clear lenses have multiple slag spots but are still useable. The heavy plastic frames are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. I estimate them to be from the 1940s-50s. The lenses are also original. They are in good condition as far as the construction. There are no cracks or breaks in the lenses. But there are quite a few age related scratches. There is a tiny symbol or manufacturer's mark in a circle on each lenses. The hinges are sound and work well. Both side guards are in one piece. No rips, or breaks. The right side is in perfect form; however the left side has a slight dent in the mesh side guard which I have tried to show in the pictures. The side guards are firmly attached. You are bidding on a vintage lot of five pairs of safety/welding goggles. These are old. Well used pairs of safety goggles. No warrantee as to their use in actual dangerous environments is being made or implied. They are. As I said, old, and they were used. Three pair are Oxweld goggles and there are two other pairs. The one pair with the two adjustments on top. that don't seem to match. has a name on the metal plate that looks like SETSTROM. My favorite pair by far is the one that has the strap and the leather noseguard. The manufacturer's name on that pair is on the inside by the edge of one lens. It looks like"coverglass. Oxweld dark lens Type AA Shade Medium Qty=2, Clear McCraken Lens Qty=2 and one separate 50mm dark lens- ALL in paper covers. Also there is an extra adjustable strap included.
