VINTAGE GENE AUTRY CAST IRON 1938-1939 CAP PISTOL WITH ORANGE SAFETY PLUG
Up for auction is a cast iron Gene Autry cap pistol. The date of mfg. I believe is 1938-1939. This particular example is what they call the long version and is made by Kenton. Sorry, I could not get a close enough focus to show the mfg's name on the inside of the gun, it says"Kenton Toys-Made In U.S.A. It is in excellent condition and all mechanisms work fine. The dark color of the body of the gun against the white pistol grips really make this item stand out, pick it up and it has a nice quality feel because of the cast iron construction. In the early 80's my husband was instrumental in establishing a Haz-Mat Team at the local Volunteer Fire Department(it has since disbanded) The underside reads: Hard Boiled- Ed Bullard Co. This Bump Cap IS NOT a Safety Helmet It is adjustable from 6 5/8" to 7 5/8" There are some scratches and smudges to the plastic which is to be expected since it was regularly used for several years. This is a vintage Superlite Fibre-Metal hardhat in very good condition. It was worn by my brother-in-law in the 1970's when he worked for the Park Service at Sequoia National Park. There are some light scuffs here and there and a few tiny chips. The wear is consistent with having been worn for two summers in the park. The suspension is in good condition and adjusts easily to 6 3/4 to 7 1/2. Really a very nice hardhat in a still vibrant red color.
