Precise Models Sikorsky S-61 Argentina Navy Helicopter Desk Display Model
Nice Sikosky S-61 model in Argentine Navy decals; all original except for the rotor mast; also the rotor center hub has a small crack as shown when the rivet was pressed. However all blades are tight and straight. The rotor cap sits on the mast vs threaded but displays well as shown. There is a light paint scratch noted on the front canopy; otherwise the fuselage has a nice natural gloss and paint looks good as shown in pics. The model measures 13" length and the rotor blades are 14" across. The rotors will be removed for shipping. I had picked this model up at the Precise Models factory when they were still manufacturing models in Elyria, OH. The model airplane itself measures approximately 10.50" long x 10.00" wingspan(varies) x 2.80" tall. The acrylic hard plastic base stand measure approximately 8.50" long x 3.75" wide(varies) x 4.00" tall. The model's wings can be adjusted into different positions and the model can be rotated(carefully) while connected to the base stand. On the plane itself there is wear. Soiling, and yellowing to most decals but appears to have all of them. It is dusty from sitting on workbench for many years but I did not try to clean due to lack ... moreof knowledge. There is paint wear. The front 2 missiles mounted on bottom have damage to fins. Wings still move freely. The wing tip edges, stabilizer tip edges and tail section edges all show some minor wear. No sure if there may be a piece missing from back upper fin of plane. On the stand, the metal connecting pin, the upright piece of the stand which holds the model to the top of the stand is slightly bent. The original base stand shows minor overall scratches from use. I do not see any other cracks or breaks on the plane or stand. It appears to have been lightly used. I don't think it was ever used commercially, as there is very little evidence of use on the panel controls. In very clean condition. Recently acquired this beautiful F-104 model from a swap meet. Wasn't sure I wanted to sell this but feel someone else would appreciate this more than I would. This model is signed by one of the airplanes pilots form the mid 50's to early 60's on the bottom base and includes a brief synopsis of a specific record breaking flight(please read the photos attached) The signature looks like it was of a pilot named M. Elroy but I couldn't find the exact name pilot databases found online. the closest I found was Ivan McElroy. This truly is a one of a kind and historic piece. Old store stock; these Precise/ Topping cast resin scale models are approximately 1/72d scale; the F-16's are a little smaller. They are used and not perfect; most have paint or decal problems. Prototype F-16 is approximately 7 1/2 inches long; the starboard wing is warped.
