Offered is a very large font of 30 point 20th Century Medium Condensed. Font consists Caps. Lower case and smaller font of figures. This is Monotype cast type that has been used very lightly, well over ninety-five percent of the letters have never been inked. As with all the type I offer, if it is incomplete or not worthy of printing with, it gets scrapped. Auction is for type in photograph and does not include the 9 x 13 galley. This is offered in ATF type font scheme which is as follows 9-A. 32-a, 9-1. Offered is a font of 42 point 20th Century Extra Bold Caps cast on 36 point body. This enables the printer to be able to better manipulate this type into a printing form. This is Monotype cast type that has been used very lightly. Quite a few of the letters have never been inked. As with all the type I offer, if it is incomplete or not worthy of printing with, it gets scrapped. This came from a very large case of type I pulled the best of what was in the case and will scrap the dregs. Auction is for type in photograph and does not include the 9 x 13 galley. HAMILTON TRIPLE TYPE CASE - letterpress printer's cut
This is a printer's cut in zinc? or magnesium? of a HAMILTON TRIPLE CASE(Model 2770) as made by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company. Hamilton showed it in their catalog in 1922. It is metal(I'm thinking maybe zinc) on type metal mounted to a wooden block by nails. It is in good shape and the metal is securely attached. The wood in in great shape. The printing surface shows some minor oxidation as seen in the photos. The block measures about 2-7/16" long X 1-7/16" high. It's a great cut to use in demonstrations for school kids so they can learn about the printer's trade. It's also good for any typophile like myself who loves letterpress history! 72 POINT ONYX typeface - 10 numbers, 3 symbols - lead letterpress type
There isn't a lot to tell here. It's just 13 sorts- 10 numbers and 3 symbols of 72 POINT ONYX typeface. It was in a giant pile of pied type that I sorted years ago and this is all that was in there of this font or typeface. I still hate the thought of melting these down and thought SOMEBODY out there might be able to use these for something other than bullets or sinkers! I know it isn't much and postage is going to be most of it but these are big letters. 72 POINT(ONE INCH) and I like this typeface! It weighs just under the limit to keep these in first class mail.

Antique Letterpress Printer's Type Planer, Planing Blocks Leather Pads 6" + Mini
2 Antique Wooden Letterpress Printer's Type Planers. A/k/a Planing Blocks Both have leather pads on top. One measures 6" long by 2 1/8" wide by 1 1/2" high. Another is a"mini" and it measures almost 3" long by 1 5/8" wide by 1 1/2" high. Both are most likely made from hard Maple. A friend of mine is the owner of a Press Museum Print Shop and he explained to me what these blocks are. How they are used, and that both are very old"antiques" This is what he told me.the planers were/are used to used to level the type before printing. The block is laid on top of a type set form and tapped(on the leather pad) to make sure that the letters are pushed down and are all level before the form goes into the press The leather pads on top are to protect the wood from being split or otherwise worn as ... morethe block is tapped repeatedly on the top- for many years, in this case. You can see the black ink and scratches on the bottom. This is the result of being tapped gently(many, many times over many years) onto a form of type. What you have there are a standard size and a"mini" size. Both are quite usable as they are- although I would re-surface them on my belt sander before I actually used them. They are bona-fide antique. Could easily be 100 years old. The planers have age and use wear. Marks, dings, soiling to be expected of items estimated to be 100 or more years old. Leather hard, worn not soft. They are being sold"as is" as was found. Interesting items to use as explained above by my friend or to add to your letterpress printing collection to display.
