0-9 numbers in antique characters We have found these vintage characters in a french letterpress shop. Which started in 1910. We think. That these letters should be from around 1930/1940. They have a nice patina and also traces of wear. As the letters had a long life of printing a lot of interesting posters, etc. The letters can be used for exemple as decoration. This auction is for a complete font of 10 line(1-2/3 inch tall) Antique Condensed vintage wood type for letterpress printing. Upper case, numbers& punctuation. Capital"A" letters have Hamilton Two Rivers, Wis. stamped on them. This is a Condensed Serif face. Font consists of a complete alphabet, complete set of figures and punctuation, ampersand, dollar signs. 130 total wooden type pieces included. Please see 5 pictures above for details and specific character counts. I tried to count the total correctly. These look like a western. Or Wild West face, like you might see on a wanted poster, with big, heavy serifs. This type is beautiful. With dark wood colors, and a great wabi-sabi patina from use. HAMILTON DOUBLE TYPE CASE - letterpress printer's cut
This is a printer's cut in zinc? or magnesium? of a HAMILTON NEWS CAP CASE(Model 2720) as made by the Hamilton Manufacturing Company. I'm unsure how to date this one. Hamilton showed it in their catalog in 1922. It is metal(I'm thinking maybe zinc) on type metal mounted to a wooden block by nails. It is in very good shape. The metal is a little bit loose and it might be good to inject a little glue to help hold it on. The wood in in great shape. The printing surface shows some minor oxidation as seen in the photos. The block measures about 2-7/16" long X 1-7/16" high. It's a great cut to use in demonstrations for school kids so they can learn about the printer's trade. It comes from a clean. Non-smoking environment.

This auction is for a complete font of 8 line(1-1/3 inch tall) Roman or Antique vintage wood type for letterpress printing. Both upper case& lower case. Capital"A" letters have Hamilton Two Rivers, Wis. stamped on them. This is a rounded Serif face. Font consists of a complete alphabet, punctuation, ampersand, dollar sign, and incomplete sets of numbers. 197 total wooden type pieces included. Please see 12 pictures above for details and specific character counts. I tried to count the total correctly. I don't know the name of this typeface. The rounded serifs make it look like art nouveau. If it weren't so old. I'd call it groovy. There are 30 numbers. In 2 different faces-please see the photos. There are 12 pieces of punctuation& an ampersand. They include a number of Old Hand Carved letters It is very unlikely that I will be able to put together a similar alphabet.
