20 Inch Letterpress Wood Type- Number"7" 20 inches tall x 4-7/16 inches wide Made of quality hardwood This unique Number is in real good condition& displays great! Weight: 1 lb. 10 oz. Please Note: There are some small scratches and blemishes on the face. There are two larger horizontal ink markings on the top of the number. There are small areas of darker brown of woodgrain. These may appear to be blemishes in the photos. There is a small chip in the wood, 1/4" long x 1/16 wide" on the face located on the very tip of the number in the top left corner. This Number is USED and VERY OLD. Therefore will have minor defects which may include scratches, blemishes, nicks, discoloration and ink buildup. It measures 32" x 16.6" These have all kinds of upcycle uses including as a coffee table with a glass top and legs. Lined with velvet for jewelry/earring holder. Mounted display for small collectibles like seashell, rocks, netsukes, cork board filled with wine corks, thread bobbin holder, etc. etc. Nice aged patina. The lower case letter"s" 6 line, block is approximately 1" tall and 9/16" wide. Manufacturer: Page& Co. Greeneville CT. The maker's mark on this set of type was used between 1857 and 1859. This type is truly antique. Type is all wood. We have washed with mild soap and water to remove the worst of the dust/soil. Our lighting may distort the color of the wood. There is dried ink etc. on some letters. Some are damaged. Refinishing is up to you If you have questions. Please ask. If you are buying more than one item. Please do not pay for them individually. ANTIQUE LETTERPRESS VINTAGE PRINTERS TYPE CASE HAMILTON TRAY DRAWER SHADOW BOX
Up for sale: A 1907 Hamilton printers case. This is one of the older cases on Ebay. We have several from the same unit and the bottom case handle is embossed with the date of 1907. This was back in the day of Teddy Rosevelt. When only 8% of population had phones, few had electricity, and few had cars. Average wage was 22 cents per hour and 95% of births were at home. The type used in these cases were just about the only way to communicate. Quite a different era. If these cases could only talk. We talk for them as they do make a good conversation piece. These cases are now being used for quite a variety of clever uses. All types of collections. Fly fishing flies, ammunition, thimbles, marbles, etc. One fellow we met placed a piece of glass on them and created beautiful coffee tables. Luckily this one survived for 100 years waiting for someone ... moreto put to good use. This case measures 26 x 18 inches and is just over an inch thick. Please see photos for condition.
