This is one of many check protectors from my personal collection that I am liquidating on eBay. It's a Defiance ink embossing type machine made by the Defiance Machine Co. of Rochester. N.Y. It has cellulose like denomination ring about the dial. The stenciling on one side reflects patent dates from 1897-1904. The japanning and gold trip are in superb condition and the nickel plated surfaces are in excellent condition as well. The top of the plunger is made of an unknown spongy material which is intact but has a texture to the surface resembling orange peal. The ink roller is present and intact but dry. The embossing sample in the last photo. Therefore, is weak but it does imprint as designed. The complete instructions are on the base. It measures 5 1/8" wide. 4 1/2" deep and 7" tall. Perkins Brailler I have a Perkins Brailler that I am selling. This brailler appears to be functioning correctly. It has an electric embossing head. This makes the pressure required very light to type; it also makes the braille type more uniform. The once exception is the paper advance button sticks down. You can just pull it back up and it functions as it should besides that. All the other keys seem to work as they should without problem. There is some scotch tape on the keys that someone wrote numbers on for some reason. I left the tape on for now so the keys are not sticky. Please see the video to see condition. This is a Paymaster S-1000 Check Writer/ Check stamping machine from my personal collection. I have had it for years. And taken good care of it. Unfortunately I do not have space for it any more, and it is time for it to go to a new home. It's a great looking item. And it draws attention where ever it goes. It is in full working order, all of the adjustments work, and it even still has ink left in it. The ink is old and faded, though. The ink can be replenished by opening the front panel. The key is missing. But the machine is unlocked, meaning it is fully operational without the key. The key allows the unit to be locked to prevent it from being operated. This machine is completely mechanical- no batteries, no electrical cords. The levers adjust the amount of money in dollars and cents(up to 99999 dollars and 99 cents) And the lever on ... morethe right side stamps a check. The amount of money selected on the display is the amount stamped and printed on the check. It uses a heavy emboss and perforation stamp to ensure the stamp can not be modified.
