Hand cut dovetails on the drawer and the way how it was constructed, along with early, rusted through nails makes us believe that it is a very old item, dating back to early 19th- late 18th century, but due to the provincial nature of this piece of furniture it just cannot be identified for sure and an exact date of its creation is unknown. It is a quality made item, well build and precisely fit, only three solid pieces of lumber were able to make it 42“ wide, which means that it’s wood came from about 300 years old tree; you will not able to find lumber this wide in stores anymore– all old trees are under protection of the French government now, hence they were almost all gone in 18-19 centuries, when France was producing only solid wood furniture. This is a pretty nice formica topped table with four chairs. The table top is in excellent condition. The trim around the outside edge is near perfect. One chair has a large rip in the backrest and one has a small area around the edge of the seat where the covering has come off the cord. You can see the photos for the damage I have described. Antique & Primitive, Pegged, Kitchen Table, Original Blue & Green Paint, 50"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The colors seen in the photos are not completely accurate. The table has two colors. The table top is almost a pale Robin's egg blue and the lower part of the table is more green than blue. It is possible the top is not original but if it's not it was replaced a very long time ago. The table is straight out of a barn from a farm near Odessa. Missouri where it had been for many, many years. I would guess it dates to the mid 1800's if not before. It is an all hand made ... morepiece and the pegs holding it together are obvious, some protruding from the surface. There are also nails where it had been repaired, probably several times, but even those are very old. The paint looks to be completely original. I couldn't find evidence of any color underneath. The paint, of course, is very worn. There is even a small amount of old newspaper stuck to the top. As it is seen in the photos is exactly how it was found. The boards, one especially, are a little loose on top but I will leave it up to the buyer to take care of that. I'm not going to do any repairs. At this time it's about as original as an old primitive gets. It's probably been on that farm from the day it was made. It is about 49 1/2" in length, 31 3/4" in width and about 29 1/4" in height. I didn't find any dry-rot on the table. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. A $2.50 handling charge is included for international shipping. The handling charge is only applied once per package. Welcome. Offered today is a pair of antique salvaged porcelain tin top kitchen table leaves. These measure approximately 40" x 10 1/4" and feature a geometric linear pattern in green and white. They still retain the wooden leaf supports. There is also a manufacturer's label which I can't quite make out. They are both in good condition with a few very small nips to the porcelain. Nothing that distracts from either leaf, and wear reflective of age and use. Add brackets to make great shelves for the kitchen or even the bathroom! Antique oak Possum belly table in GREAT condition. Kitchen Island?
This is a great possum belly table made out of oak from around the turn of the last century. It's in really great condition for that age. There is a slight crack in one of the drawers but not really noticeable and doesn't affect the functionality of the piece. It also has a built in cutting board. My parents have used this piece in their kitchen as a kitchen island before and it looks really neat. I don't have the measurements off hand. But I can get them if needed. There has been a repair done to it, one of the drawer rails was missing when we got it and needed a replacement. Other than that, just a few chips/wear in the enamel on the sides, faint enamel wear on the top(small and not very noticeable) and wood wear on the drawer(hard to see, but it is in the picture) There is also spots of white paint on the bottom side from whenever it was painted before. The table is exceptionally sturdy, we used it as our kitchen table before we changed looks. It still has the label on the bottom, it says'Mutschler Brothers Company, Nappanee, Indiana, U.S.A. and'Porce-Namel Kitchen Furniture' on it.
