RARE Vintage Wood Esko Jarvinen XC Olympics Nordic Racing Skis Lahti Finland
RARE Vintage Wood Olympics Special Racing Jarvinen XC Nordic Skis(Patent No. 16373) The Winter Olympics were in Oslo. Norway in 1952 and Cortina, Italy in 1956. World Championships were in Falun in 1954 and Lahti in 1958. These cities are mentioned on the skis. The Finnish text refers to how many medals this manufacturer of skis won in the various cities during Nordic ski competitions. These skis have the 5 Olympic rings. We believe these are an earlier pair of skis because all other pairs we've seen have 4 Olympic rings. It's possible the Olympics would have requested them to stop the use of the 5 rings for advertising purposes. This is why we believe the later skis have only 4 rings and why the colors on the 4 ring skis don't match the Olympic ring colors. These skis were made in Lahti. Finland by a Finnish Nordic combined skier ... morenamed Esko Jarvinen, who competed in the late 1920's and early 1930's. He won an individual bronze at the 1929 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopene. The last wooden skis were made in 1974. Not sure exactly how old these are, but possibly the late 1950's. ESKO 100 Vintage Soviet Multi FX Unit Fuzz Delay Flanger Octave RECAPPED Russian
Ok. This is a really cool effects processor from the former Soviet Union. Built like a tank, tons of different effects, fully recapped and the awkward din connectors have been professionally replaced with standard 1/4" connectors. The ESKO 100! It has Fuzz, Vibrato, Flanger, Delay, Shmiter( and octave. You can use it for guitars and as a recording/mixing processor. It also has facilities for an expression pedal. This is just one of the craziest sounding machines I have ever used.the fuzz is thick and pinchy desert rock style, dramatic vibrato, washed out warm delay, a nasty octave down effect, and shmitter which is kind of like an overdrive. These are rarely fully functional and almost always sold as-is or in pieces. This one is totally complete, recapped for decades of use and includes the original case! Requires 220 volt power. This ... morething can make noises that nothing else can, and while it takes some experimenting to get an understanding of it, once you do it is pretty amazing, slightly unpredictable, but always cool tones. I'm keeping one for myself as I use it for mixing music as an aux send effect all the time. This is not only delay unit- there are two independent sections with separate input/outputs with more additional analog effects. This ESKO-100 model is another version of we l l known tape version of Esko100. Knobs on the upper panel: Modulation depth max/min. Modulation depth max/min, R everb/ F langer. R ecord/ M emory. On right side of unit is two line outputs for each section: Output M and output EMI. For M section You can use only D elay or F langer. For section EMI You can use Delay. FUZZ, Octaver and TREMOLO. L eft side inputs: GUITAR Input- for this input You can apply D elay. F uzz. Wah. T remolo and O ctaver. For ORGAN input- You can use shmitter(s aturation) only. For M in put- D elay or F langer. This echo machine is in fully working condition and fully serviced before this auction. Visual condition is excellent and clean for such old equipment. as You can see on the pictures unit looks very fresh. It is first time when I have ESKO100 in my hands in such a good condition! About sound- this machine is not so bright or clean as latest 80s tape echo models or Roland SE series. Unit sounds very experimental. Interesting and in some applications even noisy, but this noise in my opinion, create a special vintage charm and old-fashioned sound- oldies echo sound from 60s and 70s and very nasty fuzz!
