The powerstat is fused. It is rated for 115 Volt, 60 Cycle AC primary and 0 to 135 VAC secondary. The powerstat is a variable autotransformer designed to provide a variable voltage to radios and amps. By slowly bringing up line voltage, one can begin to service these devices without risking full powerup, which could damage valuable components. The Powerstat is tested and it works fine. hi folks. Hope you are all doing good today. On auction at the moment we have a vintage general radio co. Variac transformer. 115 volt 50-60 cycle, model V20 20a. A transformer is used to step down voltage and can also be used to test vacuum breakers I believe. The transformer measures 7 1/2 inches across and 4 1/2 inches deep. The transformer weighs 21.5 lbs. I plugged it in and nothing happened, but I don't think that means it does not work. I just don't know. Tested on a 12y lamp the bulb goes from off to full bright!
