You are purchasing a beautiful old sterling silver tea strainer in a Lotus style pattern made by W&S Sorensen in Denmark. It is in very good condition with normal wear consistent with age and the finish is original with a nice warm lightly tarnished patina. It measures 5 5/8" long by 3" wide and there is no monogram or removals. The bowl is free of dents and has a great hand cut design that mymics the pattern on the handles. It weights 63 grams or just over 2 troy ounces. An electric motor mounted on a mahogany base drives two opposing pistons on this vintage mortician's suction pump. This rare 11¼" tall pump dates to about 1915 and was sometimes used on house calls. Rare NIADA Artist Lewis Sorensen Composition Doll Piecrust Bonnet Peasant Woman
Signed and dated 1977. This stunning portrait doll by the late, renowned NIADA artist Lewis Sorensen, stands 29 inches tall. Made perhaps in the form of a French peasant woman, it has a deep shoulder head of composition, a cloth body and lower composition arms. Quite sturdy, the legs, which are well-covered in tall stockings, appear to have papier mache over them to make them stiff. As pictured, its flaws include missing facial paint, an eye that has fallen into the shoulder head and damage to the back-left side of the dress, at the hem. Once the eye and facial paint are restored, this doll will be an absolute showstopper. Of interest is that Sorensen was a sculptor and costume designer whose art was displayed in many museums. This is a D& C Sorensen Chinese import violin. Model V160. Includes bow and case. The instrument shows very few. Light marks of wear. It has a professional set-up, making it very student/user friendly. One piece back neck and sides are of matched Maple. The Spruce top is matched and has a uniform. Medium grain from center to edge. It is about 23.5”585mm overall, 8”23mm across the lower bout. Body is 14”355mm. The finish is thin, evidenced by the differing absorption rate of the grain. Stain is a honey color on a gold ground. The fittings and finger board are ebony. The pegs turn smoothly and hold nicely. The nut is nicely fitted for a playable action.
