haynes little beaver post hole auger,hole digger,5 hp briggs,vintage,5 auger bit
Up for auction is my vintage Haynes post hole auger.Im pretty sure that this is the predecessor to the little beaver. This unit works well and includes 5 bits. I just used it this past weekend with the 4 inch bit and it worked great.I have included a picture of the hole it dug(see picture) Please note- this thing is an animal and it WILL kick your but if your not careful.I am 6 ft 3 and 240 pounds and it wanted to throw me around like a rag doll, especially when it catches a tree root, and that was just using the 4 inch diameter bit. Believe me,as long as you can hold on then those roots are no match for this unit.You might even want to consider modifying this to a two man auger,especially if you plan on using the 11 inch diameter bit that is included. There have been some repairs done to it over the years. The outer casing around the drive ... morecable has had a couple of steel sleeves tack welded around it and the throttle cable is not original.Also the outer edge of the clutch has had a new band welded to it(see pictures) All the repairs seem to work just fine.The 5 hp briggs starts rite up and doesnt leak or burn oil,runs very strong.The bits that are included 1- 11 inch diameter by 45 inch total length, 1-8 1/2 inch diameter by 45 inch total length,1- 6 inch diameter by 44 inch total length, 1- 6 inch diameter thats missing the replaceable tip. All of the bits are covered in a pretty heavy cote of surface rust but i can tell you that as far as with the 4 inch bit i just used the rust had no effect on its operation. These bits should fit any unit that take a 1 1/4 inch square shank.Please bare in mind that this is a vintage unit and might last for years or hours.This would also be great for parts for another unit. I am selling these 3- Used 6" Augers. Brand new they will run around $200-$250 a piece. As you can see in the pictures they are somewhat snow coned. So you may be only getting about 4"5" in diameter wide hole. 2- are 36" Long& 1 is 24" Long. We operated them with the Little Beaver. But you may be able to modify them to work with other Augers if need be. Let me know if you have any questions. I have never shipped before. But I'm going to try it on this one.
