A vintage pieces of fabric. 40" wide from a salvage side to a cut side and varies in length from 37 to 38" This was basted to an old wood roll up shade made by Breneman-Hartshorn Inc. of Cincinnate I had 2 drape panels and a huge bedspread form this same fabric but the dry cleaners ruined all of that. They didn't let the fabric fully get dry before folding them and returning them to me so the reds bled into the cream background making it pink. This piece was basted to an old roll up shade made by Breneman-Hartshorn Inc. of Cincinnati. O. note there is no zip and only an O for Ohio) see photo of it's label on the wood roller I have added. RARE VINTAGE 1940s PINK RAYON BIAS-CUT FULL SLIP/PETTICOAT by MISS SWANK Sz 40 For you to be considering the purchase of a Miss Swank. You probably know more than us about this slip. Easily mistaken for silk, the fabric is actually Bur-Mil rayon and there’s folks who’d be able to make a good case for saying Bur-Mil was better than silk. To only the most highly critical of fingertips, there is a difference in feel but nobody would be fool enough to say Bur-Mil came out second in the head-to-head. In its day(1948) a Miss Swank slip was advertised as being: fit to be seen in” and, to prove it, the picture showed a leering. he’d be the stereotype hubby, wouldn’t he? Didn’t recognise him without the pipe in his mouth! The colour of this Bur-Mil bias and straight-cut(you have to read the ads to know the terms:o) full slip is pink. The sort of pink ... morethat was available in the 1940s. All the picot lace, and there’s a lot of it, is white. Around the hemline, around the back and obviously around the 40” bust bodice but with an extra helping; another line of lace, that crosses over itself to form a decorative diamond shape in the middle. It all hangs from a pair of skinny(but substantial) double-thickness rayon straps, adjusted by the inevitable metal sliders– enameled pink and as good as the day the left the factory, more than sixty years ago. At the cleavage, if ladies who were fit to be seen wearing only a slip had cleavage(they don’t seem to have worn bras in all the artists’ impressions we’ve studied. in detail:o) and this was, of course, some time before you would expect a bow. Vintage 1930's-40's White Lace Tulle& Satin Princess Cut Gown. This is a lovely vintage gown made of a soft shimmery tulle lace netting and lined in pearly white satin. It has a sheer lace top with satin buttons in back. A ruffle with bows around the bust and shoulders, a fitted bodice with side zipper and full soft flowing skirt with applied satin bows. Condition: It is in good to fair vintage condition. It is clean. No stains or underarm odor. There are some holes in the lace tulle netting, there are several small holes in the front bodice, one in the front fold gathering, a few on the bottom ruffle area see pic# 11& 12. These holes are not very easy to notice because of the satin lining and fullness of the skirt. There is some fraying on the tulle ruffle and discoloration on the satin buttons. VINTAGE 1930'S 40'S IVORY & LACE LINGERIE BIAS CUT ROBE BY DAPHNEY SIZE 36
This is a vintage late 1930's or 40's ivory and lace bias cut robe tagged Daphne 36 which I assume is the size. The material is a silky almost chiffon like material but I don't know for sure and it isn't marked. It has shirring at the shoulders and gathers at the waist front and back. There is lace trim at the neck. Cuffs and waist. The waist has a blue ribbon running under the lace. It closes at the waist with 2 buttons and has small shoulder pads or sleeve shapers. The sleeves have gathering at the tops and lace cuffs that close with a button. The measurements are 15 1/4" flat across the shoulders, 19" flat under the arms plus the gathering, a 30" waist and is 58" long with a 106" hem circumference. The sleeves are 23 1/2" long with an 8" opening. Condition is very good but there is a 1 ... more1/2" spot of fraying at the hem right side seam back as seen in the 10th photo, and a few tiny spots such as seen in the 11th photo. It has not been cleaned and is ivory in color, not as white as may show in the photos. A nice, wearable robe. Pretty cut glass 4 bottle cruet set in a Electro Plated Nickel Silver holder which is in a nice square shape. The 4 well cut glass bottles are very pretty and they all match. There are some small nibbles on the rims of the two cruet bottles and one of the stoppers has small damage and on the bottom of one of the cruets is a small flaw that looks like a chip. But is smooth and I think it might be a firing flaw. There is no damage on the mustard jar or pepper shaker. On the bottom of the cruet tray it is marked H& F& Co. and EPNS with an A I under the epns. The cruet holder is square and is 4.75 inches square and it is 8 inches to the top of the handle. The two bottles are 6.75 inches to the top of their stoppers. The mustard jar is 4.25 inches high and the pepper shaker is 6.5 inches high to the top. I was extremely fortunate to find this rare beauty in a box of clothing purchased at an estate sale. She wears the BEAU MONDE label& she's from the 1930's. Made of silk with cotton lace. Being about 70 years old. She's in remarkable condition. Some wrinkling from storage. The silk flowers on the cotton lace are"wilting" but believe they were meant to look that way& gives her a sultry look. There are no stains. Picks or rips. There is a very small nick on one inner pinked seam where it looks like someone tried to trim a stray thread, but it doesn't affect the appearance or quality. She is a silk! It's a quality material. The front has a deep. Rich satin finish. But nothing like the satin of today. The inside is matte. Her color is what I'd call"Champagne" a soft, light golden color.
