The ratchet mechanism works properly in both directions. The dies insert properly into the handle. There's nothing that is a glaring problem when I look these over. But I'm not knowledgable about these tools. While they came from a working environment, with some dies used more than others(surface rust on unused dies) It's possible that some of the teeth are dull or damaged.
