On the joint end it moves about 1/16" but that lets it move about an inch on the handle end. I am not for sure if it could be tightened up or not. The mandrel seems to have either been broke off or someone shortened it. You can see in the image below that it is flat across the top. In the next image down you can see that likes about 3/32" coming out to the expander head. It seems to still work ok. If it were mine I would consider rounding the edges just slightly. I would think it might reduce wear. Weight: 3 lbs unpacked. Measurements: about 14 1/2" inches long. Here's a good used heavy duty threader. Was being used to thread 1 1/2" rigid conduit. The accessory dies needed for 3/4" 1 1/4" and 2" are not included but can commonly be found on Ebay quite inexpensively. These heads are very expensive new, but they last forever! Good item to buy used! This one has a steel handle that is about 3' long. And since it is in two pieces with a coupling in the middle, it can pack in a Large USPS flat rate priority box, see the last photo for the way it fits for very economical shipping! The changing of the die size mechanism works well and is in great working order. The rear mechanism that has the clamp jaws to clamp down on the pipe and align it in the center also works well and is easy to rotate. Also the shaft that spins the head around(where the 774 adapter attaches) is in proper working order as the head rotates very ... morenice and smooth ly.
