Puch the side and it releases. Everything moves smoothly with no issues. Grid measured in inches. Signs of wear are minimal but apparent so remember this is an older piece. The cutter features a 16"x16" wood cutting platform and a heavy duty metal cutting blade/handle. The cutter stands about 3" high. The unit is all wood except for the metal blade. The cutting platform features a quadrant design that helps you align you paper prior to cutting/trimming. The overall condition of the unit is quite good. The cutter was well kept and maintained.
