Ideal Forte 46/e Triumph All Purpose Industrial Paper Cutter
Triumph all purpose semi automatic paper cutter. My knowledge is limited on this product. Seems to function properly. I sliced up a phone book with no problems. Was used at a church and stored away for 15 years. The problem with the unit is that at some point it must have rolled over on its top. This bent the protective casing and the wheel. I can't get the wheel to budge so I can remove the casing. The mechanics were not damaged. The wheel still works and the vice grips the paper firmly. The wheel handle is not in pic but is included. Kutrimmer Model 1110 Paper Cutter German made. The Mercedes of paper cutters. Cut tissue or thick. Heavy mounting board and metal foil. This is one of the largest models made. Has a cut of approx 43 inches. I used to be in the gallery and framing business. I had a big Ingento which I sold to Roy Vickers many years ago when he started his first galery in Ucluelet. I got back into framing and bought this to replace the Ingento. Good move. It is far superior to Ingento and much heavier construction. A very popular cutter with bookbinders, galleries etc. Just took it out of storage and assembled it in my carport. Ran some big card through it and checked it's precision with a rule and square. It is bang on. This is a used machine and has a few scuffs and minor surface soil. The plexi guard is quite scuffed from the blade running down it. Hold ... moredown works well. This machine can be adjusted in several ways for ease of use and precision. Can't find the original manual. In a file box somewhere. Vintage Ideal School Supply Co. Wood Paper Cutter, Ingento No. 4, Chicago IL
This is a very sturdy vintage paper cutter. Perpendicular to the handle is a 12.5" ruler which reads IDEAL SCHOOL SUPPLY CO. CHICAGO, ILL INGENTO NO. 4. The handle is marked INGENTO NO 4 also, but it's a bit harder to read. This cutter weighs almost 7lbs. The wood components are all intact and solidly attached; the"feet" are attached by dovetail joining. All hardware is present down to each old screw and washer. And the handle moves freely; however, there is a gap between the wood block and the handle which is just shy of 2/8" although with a little pressure towards the wood block the gap closes. I'm not sure whether this can be remedied by removing the rust or whether it is slightly sprung. The finish on the wood is worn and there are a few nicks and scratches. The corners of the feet show some rounding from wear. ... moreThere is paint loss as well as rust on the iron parts. And of course the blade would need sharpening. On the bottom side there is black marker which reads C. BECK GRADE 1. You are bidding on a beautiful VINTAGE Paper cutter from Ideal Supply Co. of Chicago. IL. This is the Ingento No. 5 and is roughly 16"x16" and is in really nice shape for its age. The cutting surface overall is pretty blemish free and really does not have anything to noticeable on it as far as stains or spills. There are a few minor separations in the wood due to natural aging which we tried our very best to depict in the photos. The base is made very sturdy with heavy duty dovetail joints and a very heavy duty spring and cutting arm still cuts paper very nicely. I would suggest that when you get this one home that you oil the spring and adjust the blade to your particular liking.
